Tokyo 2020 Olympics/Paralympics

I agree. When one person is clearly better than the other, it's fine, but when it's pretty even, you might as well toss a coin.

On another note, wasn't boxing going to be kicked out of the Olympics for being corrupt as fuck?

In recent years, I think London 2012 had some blatantly mad results. a whole bunch of judges were sent home after some obviously wrong outcomes - I think in one, a boxer was put down 6 times and 'won'.

I think there were some wrong ones in Rio too, and after at least one of those two saw a significant change in how scoring was done.

Really? I’m surprised to hear that about “amateur” boxing, though I don’t know too much about it.
I mean I guess it’s open to corruption as much as any of the other sports where judges award scores of choice, but do you mean something more than that?

Missed out on gold again, changes so fast in Taekwondo, lost it in the last 10 seconds.

So hard to take that. Was the same for the lad yesterday.

She had such a good lead and possibly didn't show enough composure to see it out, but I know fuck all about the sport so I'm probably being way too harsh. Playing the card to appeal the decision I felt was a wrong move, the opponent looked done in and it allowed her to formulate a strategy. Even so, how do you go to sleep tonight knowing you were ten seconds from gold? I couldn't survive an individual sport like that. It would eat me alive. A silver at her first games is fantastic still but she'll be gutted.

The corruption seems to have been based on the referee performance, whether the scoring system was conveniently not working or judges were not scoring points fairly. I doubt a boxing judge in the Olympics is rich and could easily be paid off.

Roy Jones Jr had a dodgy loss back in the day.

Mohammed in the BBC studio lost with 1 second to go last time, I think.

I think it is one think that the sport has in it's favour - lots of points can be scored quickly.
It does have drawbacks in that in an earlier round, someone was 5 points up and just stepped out of the arena every few seconds, taking a 1 pt penalty a few times, but not conceding a big score.

Yeah you get 10 "fouls" don't you, so with 14 seconds left she could have just ran around a bit and stepped out the court a few times and won gold but had the whole sport on her back for it. Fine margins! Would you rather win at all costs or win fairly...one of those.

Oh right, I vaguely remember watching before but Jones steals all the headlines. I've noticed him talk up the silver medal a lot which obviously relates to his position. I like the fact the two Brits are disappointed. Great mentality to go and do better next time. When they retire they will realise just how great silver still is, but for now fuel the fire with the disappointment you feel inside.

They threatened to kick it out of the Olympic programme in 2018 because of links to organised crime. It only got back in after major reforms, apparently.

Same as last night, I'll get the GB schedule up soon.

Women's triathlon already underway, 3 of ours in the top 11, Jess Learmonth is leading for us, she's tore the field apart with this swim.

Watched the men's triathlon yesterday and the first thing I said was this biking route is ridiculously tight in places. Yesterday it was boiling hot and bone dry, today its the women's and its pissing down, I'm expecting a shit load of them to go flying on the bike if they bunch up at any point. Takes one slip and they're all going down.

Edit. Literally as I was typing that we've seen 2 go flying.
