I'll let them off not showing the Women's 100m preliminaries (the bit for smaller nations before the actual heats) but when the proper track and field starts in 15mins I better be seeing athletics and not dancing horses (as brilliant animals as they are).

I’ll miss Keeley Hodgekinson in her 1st round 800m heat but I’m sure it’ll get shown many times after 4am onwards - see you a bit later :-)

Yeah we've 3 women in those 800m heats with good chances based on their times this season. Dina's got a great chance too but the women's 100m is going to be fast this year.

Did the commentator just say that we have spent £27m on the rowing team to achieve 1 silver & 1 bronze medal? That's almost as bad value as when City signed Bony.

Ta. With the swimming it’s the plethora of relays, as well as 4 different strokes ffs!

I've always said if it's possible to win 8 gold medals, then the events clearly aren't different enough from each other. But the main reason it seems to go on forever is because the BBC seemingly insist on showing every round of every event.

Rowing has been a huge disappointment this games. I wonder if they'll get their funding cut off the back of this like many other less middle class events that actually exceed expectations suffer from.
