The media went after him because of what his dick head national team boss did, but also because he had broken another leg, (Holden), not long before and also because of what he did in the WC final. Thats not a witch hunt, its the media going after a story which was there purely because of his previous. Hopefully Huddlestone will get targeted because he too has previous. People are too defensive on here and too ready believe nothing happens to anyone but our players. I'm 100% confident that Bolton will kick up a fuss and the FA will act because the cameras clearly showed that the intention was there, just like it showed Adebayors intention last year.rassclot said:maybe because, for example, last season vidic got away with 3 elbows and a punch & the season before tranny got away with 3 retaliatory kicks on opponents because in each case the referee claimed he'd seen the incidents & 'dealt with them at the time'. in the meantime there have been the witch hunts against ade & ndj.
i'm not arguing that ade was rightly punished, just pointing out the lack of consistency when clear assaults by some high profile players go completely unpunished. (gerrard is another serial offender to get away scot free).
as for witch hunts, there is no doubt that ndj was subjected to a sustained witch hunt by certain sections of the media. however, the fa could do nothing because martin atkinson had the integrity & the bottle to come straight out & say he saw the incident & there was no foul.
on the other hand ade was subject to a disgraceful witch hunt. arsenal supporting (the) fa chief executive ian whatmore hung ade out to dry immediately after the game thereby denying him anything like a fair hearing. mark clattenburg then lied twice, firstly saying that he didn't see the van persie incident despite being about 6 feet away & looking straight at it & secondly by saying he didn't book ade for his goal celebration but for time wasting despite the fact that it took only 30 seconds. this allowed the fa to take retrospective action twice against ade but strangely nothing came of van persie's earlier celebration when he ran right up to the city fans in cb level 1 screaming obscenities at them.
do you believe that players of all clubs are treated equally in disciplinary matters? i wish it was so although i do share your view that in this instance huddlestone will be called to account by the fa.
