Was only misinterpreted. Bild Twitter only said that Rummenigge told that Kroos will definitely stay at Munich next season. As Kroos has contract until 2015...

(and I think that could change when Kroos really would not sign a new contract - then the situation might change)

If they would get Kroos they would need another good midfielder to accomplish him. He is too slow to play directly behind the strikers (if you do not have really mobile strikers) and too less defensive minded to put him in an equal central midfielder relationship. You have to play him with a defensive minded partner there. Else it would not work and he would not be a success. It would be a little like today where he is praised like a world beater when there is matches in which he can play out his strengths - and where he is blamed heavily in other matches. His nickname is Phlegm-Toni...

I do not think that Manchester United will always be where they are now. (I know that some or probably all of you would like it like this) The money generating machine behind all of this will not allow this. Somewhen they need to invest and not just pour money out of that club. And if I would be Kroos I would not mind playing no CL next year. He is still very young and already had success - it is not like for a 29-year-old that has to win something because he never did before and time is running out. And the first year in the EPL is very difficult for the most players. It is World Cup year, too. So having a year to adapt to a team and a league without matches every midweek especially after a strenous World Cup might not be that bad...

For the German National team they definitely have, though as I remember not for any great time as usually Khedira is starting and Lars gets subbed on later in the game (around the 70 minutes mark).
 
I would not get too giddy about United finishing outside the top 4 and not being able to attract big name players, Barcelona finished 6th in La Liga in the 2002–03 season yet still managed to get Ronaldinho over United.

Bender is born 89 - Kroos just some days in 1990. They did not really meet in the Youth-Nationalteams either. Kroos spearheaded - and I think even captained - that 1990 year and was not used in the upper year as much as I know. And whereas the 1989 Bayern players Badstuber and Müller meet them from early on in various Bavarian and German teams he came to Bayern with 16.

Would it match?

The ideal for Kroos would be a defensive minded midfielder in the Gustavo category of 2012/13 - and someone very dynamic as a partner or even playing in front of him. Kroos and Schweinsteiger often get the critics of us as they just lack the dynamic. Like in the match against United. You have the wingers and Müller running of their asses off but none to really come from backwards and being able to help with it especially in the center. When Schweinsteiger finally did it was the goal.

As a partner in a two-man-midfield Lars would probably be too offensive minded - his brother Sven would fit better as he is more the guy for the sweeper role whereas Lars is more the box-to-box player. Both - Mata and Kagawa in front of them - are not the dynamic bombs either... And I think it would be too less dynamic when they would play as 8s together in a 4-3-3

We are talking of a ball possession system, or? Kroos would not match into a more counter attacking team like they play e.g. at Dortmund or even at Chelsea or Real.

Kroos could be really great - in the matching system.

Hah it was Sven I meant, he's the one at Dortmund isn't he?
I'm talking either system, Counter attacking or Possession, Kroos has a great ability to pick a pass, but lacks dynamism so he needs imo sort of a minder player next to him this season as Fernandinho has been for Yaya at our club.

I agree with most of what you said, but a few points I disagree with.
Madrid have changed and continue to change their style. They are no longer the counter attacking team they were under Mourinho. With the three in midfield, they try and keep possession a lot more and apart from Ronaldo, Modric has been their best player.

Schweinsteige and Kroos lacks dynamism, but I think that has a lot to do with Bastian being injured so often and choosing to sit deeper. Kroos has improved defensively and physically and will need to continue doing so. Schweinsteiger needs to start making runs into the box like he did used to. I think this is more an instruction from Pep, than something Bastian does not want to do. I personally think the Kroos/Schweinsteiger midfield should have been properly tested to see how it works.

I agree with you on the United front as well. This is why I said Moyes is like a kid in the chocolate shop and is building a team with no balance. Kroos will need legs around him like Pirlo does. Mata and Kagawa are static, but if he was to add a player like Reus it might work.

The Kroos/Schweinsteiger midfield is tested since ages. It is nothing new - 2010/11 was the first year for it. The only time it really worked was with Müller on the right in a time in which Kroos really was trained to be more mobile - Lahm pushed forward on the right, Müller played partly hanging striker in front of Kroos and partly as winger. Schweinsteiger worked in front and behind of Kroos with Martinez or Gustavo playing sweeper. With proper winger like Robben it does not really work if you do not take the easy matches. After the winter break Kroos started to show his phlegm again. His injury was not that bad as Heynckes normally would not have gone off his match idea without that - he usually is a ball possession fanatic like Guardiola - only with a love for strikers (he was one of the best German ones) and with a proper defense. The hanging striker solution with Müller that worked so fine the years before he really avoided so that there is no discussions. Robben already started to talk in interviews that it should not be a discussion between him and Müller as he and Müller always played together very well...

I know their running data. Both need a lot time to recharge after sprints and Kroos usually only has very short sprinting range. It is a problem of their physics... Schweinsteiger cannot constantly put so much effort in the matches - that is another problem. And they are no solution for a two-man-midfield either.
 
I don't disagree with your points, but 2011 was a long time ago. Kroos has improved a lot since then, though his weaknesses are still apparent. He needs to show the dedication and passion to keep working on them. As you said it did kind of work when Muller was playing on the right. You need to be dynamic in other areas.

As for Schweinsteiger I have noticed the same thing too, but I put it down more to his injuries. Bastian has played injured far too many times for both Germany and Bayern. It was a mistake to play injured for so long this season and he needs to listen to his break a bit more.
