Toni Kroos

You think gondogan is better than Kroos? Really?

I do too, gundogan is the perfect CM. Kroos is a fantastic CM, but has very little pace and isn't the best at tracking defenders.

Kroos comes from 2 consecutive teams where more others do the hard shifts, Gundogan comes from a team where EVERYONE does the hard shifts. The only blemish on Gundo is his injuries the last couple of years.

I actually think gundogan, if he remains fit, can become the best CM in the world under pep.

By a distance imo. He does most of what Kroos does apart from some of the long ball stuff, & works really hard closing down as well as carrying the ball at pace. Imo Kroos will need a minder if we sign him which takes up a position in the team. Gundogan takes care of himself.

Stop comparing Kroos and Gundogan. Totally different players. What Kroos is best at Gundogan can't bring. And the other way round. I try and see what a player can bring to our team and with no build up from our backline as it is now the introduction of Kroos is very important. If we can get him ...

I can't think of any team other than Real, who has a player like Kroos. Usually the players employed in that position are excellent defensively, & work hard to cover the back 4 not just making a token half hearted attempt. The only one I can think of is Pirlo, who was 10 times better as a footballer & an exception, but still someone the team had to be built around.

Pep has never stuck with a player like Kroos in front of the back 4. Nearest is Yaya, but he was much more than Kroos too.

Philip Lahm at Bayern and Busquets at Barca. With the knowledge that both teams actually had one or two players in the backline who were able to build up from the back.

You love to compare players don't you. You can only compare if the circumstances are equal. Never happened with Pirlo and Kroos. But yes, their style and function is pretty much similar.

More important to me, and it should be to you as well, can Pirlo make City better? No. Can Kroos? Definitely.

I don't see Kroos making City 'better' personally. And I don't think he can lace Pirlo's boots. I'm sick of seeing teams legging it past our passey wassey type players & ripping up our defence. I want players who do both jobs not half a job.

Since the takeover, we have never had it right imo in midfield. We've either lacked pace, or stamina or goals or all 3 in different spells. We now have DeBruyne (goals assists) Fernandinho (great energy, ball carrying tackling heading) Silva (passing moving creating), Nasri (same) Yaya (bit of everything plus goals) Gundogan (passing creating ball carrying from deep & intercepting) Byrne (passing creating goalscoring). Add a Pogba type player who scores goals & also tracks back replacing Yaya & we have a superb mobile fluid midfield to choose from, with several players who fill that hole that Yaya leaves, without being forced to leave someone out.

Add Kroos & the hole returns but without the goals. So now we have a problem again of whether to play Fernando.

This is exactly as I see it. And over the last part of the season where Real have been televisually prominent, along with the Chairman national team, he hasn't exactly set the games ablaze. Some people rave over Kroos but I've seen better from him a few seasons back.

Obviously we agree to disagree. I can only prove my side if we actually sign Kroos. I do however understand why Pep raves about this player in his memoirs. You see it differently and prefer Pogba for double money and half necessary with what we already have. A Kroos player we have not in our ranks and with the possession play we most certainly need. That's where you miss the point imo.

Kroos might be a bit redundant on this team but the dude is superbly talented.

He probably isn't available and is hit or miss at times but I'd really like to pry Ramsey away from Arsenal. I think he'd fit in really well with the squad we have.

Kroos is and remains an excellent player and one of the few truly world class players that will improve our team. His reading of the game and positional sense are superb and he has a decent range of passing.

I'd argue the juve team actually does that for pogba.

Can't disagree that he's a quality player, just not the player I envsaged & hoped for, to build a Premier League version of a Pep Guardiola team. I expected ability combined with athleticism.

If Pep chooses to sign him & can make it work, I'm not someone who can argue.

I will however be surprised if Pep signs him & also, unless we find some seriously adaptable fullbacks who can step into midfield like Bayern/ Barca's do, I don't see how it can work without sacrificing a player to fit in a as minder for him.

I don't want any player at City, anymore, who needs a minder, personally. In any position.

I actually think a fully fit Yaya, plus Fernadinho Gundogan, is a better midfield than Kroos with those two. I watched Kroos shit out of an header completely v Norniron at the halfway line & wondrred how that would sit with City fans if it was Yaya & we were one down.

But whatever Pep decides, I'll back. He knows.

Juve are not my idea of a great team but imo there is no similarity between Pogba & Kroos.

I prefer 3 in midfield who are quick & talented. I don't want a quarterback. But as I say, Pep knows better of course so if he decides it will work, fair enough.

Also Alex Garcia & Jack Byrne. Potential to be part of that imo.
