Absolute joke Rob. Were getting battered when mysteriously the flood lights failed. Old Bacon Face got a 12 minute team talk and a chance to bring on Ferdinand for the woeful Evans. Dodgy Dodgy dive for a penalty given by the fifth official a good 20 seconds after the dive????
Rooney touched the ball twice with his penalty yet it was still given.
UEFA absolutely blatantly corrupt, all the big sides in Europe get the decisions. They are scared of us out of pot 3 or 4 and dominating Europe.
While I do think City got a taste of the ridiculous refereeing Europe has to offer last night, you do realise that in order to "dominate" Europe - you have to beat the teams you're meeting in your groups just in a later stage in the competition. The two legged knockouts are also much more intense than the groups even with such prestigious sides as opponents.

The fact that your groups are disproportionately difficult is unfortunate (but Chelsea had to deal with that obstacle as well). The officiating screwing you over as they did last night is a systemic problem with the game. Just last week my team was fucked over as well. But all of this is just an excuse for the fact that for some reason, City massively under-performs in Europe (both in the CL and the Europa). When I've watched your European ties, especially last season, it was like watching a completely different team from the side destroying all-comers in the Premiership days earlier.

Practically juggled the ball into the net. The whole event was like a bloody circus. The only thing that was missing was the ginger pig chopping someone in half, but Evans had a good go at it. The Braga goalie waved the ball into the net, "Oh go on Mr Van Persie, have yourself a nice goal for xmas!"

Bloody fixed from the tea lady up.

They have no shame whatsoever.

Has a team that cheats as persistently ever existed? Even in Serie A's heyday?

For the champions league you need a different playing strategy. You have to come out of the traps like lunatics, get the opposition on the backfoot, score early goals and kill the game off...then you take your best players off and rest them for the weekend.

You can't plod your way through these games and let the opposition have plenty of the ball. In the CL, every mistake is punished. That is the difference in class. You might get away with a slip up against Wigan or West Brom, but at this level a mistake ends up with your goalie picking the ball out of the net, as we also saw in the Chelsea game tonight.

City need to adopt this formula of high intensity at the start of the game, instead of the last quarter.
