Tonights Performance!

Could never be as bad as the cup game against Norwich a couple of seasons back.....

Just glad we won to be honest. We were seriously lacking a big man up front otherwise I think it would have been alot more comfortable.

I said to my mate last night it reminded me of the Norwich game a couple of seasons ago.
It was f*ckin freezing that night and we were on the verge of going into extra time when ched struck gold. Unfortunatley last night we had to endure the extra 30 minutes but
we were saved from the drama of penalties thankfully.
Onwards & upwards from this though, it may have been a lack lustre performance but a
wins a win and some of the most succesful teams always seem to grind out a result even
on a bad day so i`m not too disheartened by it, they were heroes on sunday and we
can kick on from here.....Wembley beckons!!

Some of you haven't been following City for very long

It wasn't great football, but Fulham had every man behind the ball, and pinched the first goal.

Breaking down a determined opposition is part of football, and although it wasn't thrilling, there were reasons for that

De Jong did OK, but I didnt see the point of a defensive midfielder in a game like that where Fulham were very negative. It wasn't hard work which we needed, it was a bit of individual ability, and interplay between the forwards in the final third.

The front 3 flopped. bellamy played well, but tevez struggled.

Thought Hughes nearly lost the game in bringing weiss and Petrov on. That gave Fulham a lot of possession which they had hitherto been denied.

Petrov on for De-Jong so surely "didnt see the point of a defensive midfielder" and you thought Hughes "nearly lost the game" is a contradiction

Many, many times it's been said that it's the teams that can grind out victories in dour games, when they're not playing particularly well, that win things in the end – ie actual silverware.

This was the case last night. We ground out a result.

But anyone who has watched the Blues over the years will know just what a massive step forward this is. It really is not very long ago at all that we would have buckled – particularly after going a goal down. It's going to take me quite a while not to think, as has been habit, that if we go a goal down then defeat is inevitable. The culture at the club has – finally – changed.

I don't care about the crowd like a few other on here have been complaining about, 25K isn't terrible and for those that came, i bet you wish you didnt! I have to say it's probably one of the most boring matches i've been to watch in a long time!

It seemed like we were suffering a derby hangover, nobody was up for it and a few of them, particularly Barry looked out on their feet in the second half! We should have played more of the squad from the begining, Petrov, Weiss etc..

The 2 bright points were Bellamy and De Jong, De Jong again was outstanding, Bellamy was his usual self a.k.a brilliant!

Anyway, none of it matters, we're in the last 16! Bets on us getting the Arse or the scum!!!

Went to the derby on Sunday with Manc Tronix (nice t-shirt mate).

When we left the swamp we were emotionally drained, thoroughly pissed off and I've felt up for fcuk all this week.

I didn't run around for 97 minutes, didn't put a tackle in, didn't fight back 3 times and didn't bust a gut for the cause like the players did.

I'll forgive 'em for last night.

Tough call tonight, we were not particularly good but the fulham team defended deep and chased us down like they meant it. Pathetic going forward though (fulham) and it took a brilliant strike out of the blue to give us a dose of reality, beforehand city without looking a big threat were in total control of the game and it stayed that way after their goal apart from a decent save from Shay second half when Lescott (again) took time pondering instead of belting it out. Maybe it was another player and I'm being harsh on him, I was half asleep at the time!

Good summary really and yes it was lescott but give the guy a chance to settle in and find his feet.
