Tony Blair on Nick Robinson's Show

You already have a 3 party system with the SNP.

As for NI, whatever Corbyn has done in the past it's a match beside a bonfire compared to putting the DUP into government in the middle of Brexit negotiations.

Well we don’t as I cannot physically vote for them, even if I did lose my marbles and decide to. They’re an anomaly who will hopefully be out of existence in a few years.

I mean a proper 3 party system across the entire UK - left, right and centre. Even typing that makes me think it could be a good thing actually.

Listen, I detest the DUP, you just have to look at the cretins who run them to realise what they represent.

The trouble you’ll have with that argument is that the IRA actually murdered innocent people in working class areas on mainland Britain and a British politician, supposedly for the working class, befriended several of them. It just smacks to me what he’s always been, he’s just an opposition to be UK government and always will be.

On that basis I’d argue Corbyn is more in the wrong.

Blair, Brown, Prescott and Mandelson

All got behind the party.
Yes they did , but they were a natural progression from the reforms started by Kinnock, and Smith people stayed and fought for the party when they didn't agree with the direction Foot had taken it rather than start or join a new party, they had many battles within the party. My point was in the long run that turned out to be a better solution than that of those that left to start a new party .
I don't think when the Labour party elected Kinnock he was that open about where he was going to take them, and he had to take on the left wingers but it was a long time ago and his pitch for the leadership is gone from my memory.

Troubled times with atrocities on both sides, don't play the blame game, I think we're all glad it's behind us.

SNP won't be going anywhere anytime soon, agree about at least a 3 party system, coalitions at least keep the ideologues in their box.

How many of those 4 publicly falsely accused people of hate crimes and told constituents they'd rather see the Tories in power?

Not sure why you'd want the SNP out of existence they provide in Scotland what you want in the UK, a fairly centrist pro EU party. If a new party did emerge in the UK I think they would look at and adopt a fair few of their policies.

You won’t find anyone more up for putting that shite behind us than me. No one is right if everyone is wrong afterall.

I sadly agree, the independence argument would be gone if it wasn’t for Brexit though, which is frustrating.

I think the 3 party solution across the entire UK is the only way to go now, the more I think about it.

You've lost me, all I was replying to was your post saying
This is my point, if there's that strong a feeling that he's not wanted as a leader, why not start up a new party? Staying within Labour and sniping only favours the Tories.
My point was starting a new party might not be the best option but because of the Labour system getting Corbyn out is difficult and where the future lies for cenrist politics.

It’s the breaking up of the UK which I cannot look past.

For me they’re similar to UKIP in nature and are a nationalist party. They may have centrist domestic policies that I’d agree with but their end game is fundamentally at odds with mine.

Blair etc worked within the party to change it, the 'Blairites' now are publicly attacking the party, big difference.

As South Park brilliantly put it, a 2 party system can serve you up a choice between a douche and a shit sandwich, or to rephrase it in Anglo-Irish, a choice between getting kicked in the balls or the teeth.
