Too many games are damaging players

Yes, there are too many games and travelling all around the world for players to recover, Recovery time is more important than fitness and being healthy, What football clubs need is to protect their players, the Premier League should control the amount of games they are allowed to play both in the League and International games,

I said it a long time ago, Make Clubs play the youth and EDS players in 5 or more games a season, Bring in the EDS to the Premier League and make all clubs play their EDS and Youth players against each other for the points,

5 games over a season when International games are played, so let's say City have to play Forest, Both clubs have to field a team with EDS players and can only pick 2 first team players that are not available for their country or have retired for international duty,

You could also make it like a cup round with a draw to see who you play in the games, Use a seeded system so the bigger games are protected from playing each other

All international games should be played in close season, that means if a player wants to raise their profile and fuck about playing shit pointless games it's on them.

League first mate.

The whole point of my question was Recovery Time, The players need more downtime not playing.
Uefa and Fifa are the problems with their games and wanting this new club World Cup in the summer it's wrong.
What is the maximum number of games a player can play in England? 38 league games, about 13 cup games, and 15 in the Champions League, around 65 games, and that's without international games.

Make Club's use what they already have EDS and Youth football players, Give them some games to taste and learn from. 5 or 6 games a season with points on offer and I think fans would love it, Also working with the first team coach/managers would make them better players.

Watching the game last night was good to see some new faces and young players given a chance
For me it's the only way for the best players get recovery time and play less, Reducing the league to 18 teams only gives you a couple of games, Make the clubs Play EDS and youth players with points on offer will improve recovery time for the better first team players.

Forget scrapping this competition or that competition.
The first step (which is impossible to do) is stop the 'war' between Uefa and FIFA.
Both want more of the market as it means more money.
This summers World Club competition will happen - why?
The World Cup has increased the number of teams taking part - why ?
The World Cup WILL be given to Saudi - why?
Uefa will continue to increase the number of teams in the European international list, San Marino and that place tucked between France and Spain have always been included, fuck knows why, but now Gibralter - why.

Keep the league cup and keep 20 teams in the PL. Cut back on all the rest, except they won't because of greed.

League Cup needs scrapping. Or have it open to Championship teams and below.

The reality is it's a complete waste of time for the bigger clubs, and is less than chip shop paper by late Feb. I'd struggle to tell you who we beat for our four league cups under Pep. International schedule needs sorting, too.

make league cup max 3 senior players in match day squad, all the rest U21

Can't see bringing the EDS lads into the pl would work.
EDS have their own league.
TV companies and fans want to see the best players.
I watch our EDS put I wouldnt want to watch them playing spuds EDS for premier league points.

It would be a breath of fresh air if Premier League clubs had to play the EDS or Youth players for points. Also add 2 or 3 first team players for experience and fans would watch the games,

I don't like the idea of reducing the Premier League to 18 teams, It is already a closed shop really for promoted teams going straight back down and it would be even harder to stay up. having a bigger squad is also not going to work,

Capping the number of games a season a player can play may be a good idea and that would fit in with the EDS idea

We have seriously got twice the first team squad with a backroom of medical staff at their beck and call add to that many top players employ their own staff to help them medically.

In any industry there are people who fare worse than others, from repetitive strain to even losing limbs, todays football isn't even close to that in any way.

They need to decide and clubs can actually help them, before putting pen to paper your club must come first or we don't sign them.
Agree with the sentiment but we'd lose a lot of signings.

Players want to play for national teams.

The worrying thing is that there are 2 more International games coming up soon, and the World Cup qualifiers start soon don’t they?

Insanity!

If they want to play less games they need to lower wage demands, yes there’s money from tv and sponsors so they will want more and more, if clubs said no to more games due to player fatigue then obviously there wouldn’t be as much income, so players need to stop upping the anti with wages. The quality is slowly declining and although we have 8 out can you imagine if we played a fast paced game there would be more no doubt, you just can’t perform at your best every 3 days, yes you can play but it won’t be at the top level it’s just not possible. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if/when KDB comes back he’s a shadow of himself and one more injury away from calling it a day certainly in the premier league.

Too many games is also putting fan engagement at risk, in my opinion. Last night, ok it was the carabao and I expected us to field a much weaker side admittedly, but as a fan it felt like one game too many.

I wasn't interested. I didn't watch it, felt no need to. Stick a couple of games in other countries like glorified friendlies, and I think I'll drift away.

Then there's the farce of the international competitions having played almost as many games as the domestic leagues by mid November.

Should put a cap on the number of games a player can play on twelve months. Preferably based on sound medical advice. At the moment there are too many pigs at the trough and they all want a bigger bite and a bigger trough.

Eventually something will give, and I suspect fan engagement could be it, especially with the way clubs now treat fans. Less die hards, more fairweather tourists, all well and good until they get used to the taste of the product and want something new.
