He's goneSo, am I the only one who voted for David Sylvian?
Are you sure you don't mean Bernardo Sylvian.
He's goneSo, am I the only one who voted for David Sylvian?
Come on, is that really all of your input in a discussion about the best male vocalist. Because he sounds like a girl ?Because he sings like a girl?
Yea the link i did send was from a digital live performance he did, thats because his tour was shut down, during the Covid surge. So yeah there might have been abit of tempering with compression and such, but there are several links with live performances of the same song, without there being much of a difference or drop in his vocal quality.suspiciously electronic sounding sorry
Nope. I did as well, mainly for Nightporter but also Japan. So, am I the only one who voted for David Sylvian?
I'll add the song you put up is dogshit. And he sings like a girl.Come on, is that really all of your input in a discussion about the best male vocalist. Because he sounds like a girl ?
The guy just showed like a 5-6 octave range, smooth transition between all the ranges, he sings like a bass, tenor, and soprano with no jitter or lacking of clarity. He flips between head voice, chest voice and mix with no problem, like 100 times in 3 min. He is showing perfect pitch, incredible control, and sings in 3 or 4 genres in the same song, and still making it sound like it fit together.
I understand his styles of singing might not suit everyone, but the discusion is about the best male vocalist and not singer, i dare you to link me a better vocal performance.
ok. own up. Who voted for Mick Hucknall?
You are bad.
Great shout for Noddy! Slade were my first music heroes in the early seventies. This song is class.
I can't disagree about Ryder pal. Noel however can sing half decent to some really good songs that will continue to get airplay for many more years to come.Wouldn't class him as a good singer? Dude, he was fucking TERRIBLE. And I LIKE the Mondays.
If he's in here it's an absolute Manc pisstake. Noel is kind of too, but at least his caterwaul was unique.
It's quite simple really, you hear these songs and the singer, and you think "I really love his/her voice" and when asked to vote for your top 10 singers you choose that person. The most influential band of all time can’t be overhyped; the songwriting can’t be overhyped. As individual singers and players, though, I don’t think they should be hyped at all.
Even for someone who shies away from the pure mechanics of “vocal talent” or instrumental talent when combining lists like this (it’s “favourite”, not “best at”), I struggle to understand how anyone could pick a Beatle as a “favourite” singer.
I figure one of the points of their popularity was that they didn’t NEED to have the sheer ability and performance talent of Frank Sinatra or Yehudi Menuhin to make incredible music, because they were such great songwriters.
