Top 105 Guitarists - The Winner page 33

Nothing in the list probably not very good at spotting talent. There are 2 in the list I know Peter Frampton and Brian Jones that are great but only 1 vote each.

The most obvious to me I regret leaving out it is John Squire don't think I should be taking part.

I voted for Jones due to his status as a pioneer of slide guitar in Britain, and forming The Stones.
Im a big fan of the Stones, and Jones may have been different, but what always amazes (amuses) me about the Stones is how "rubbish" they are as guitarists....yet they sound SOOOO good together

I have a couple of those too. Bob Mould being one that could have replaced a couple of mine. It ended up being more my top 10 I can think of in 2 minutes, as opposed to my top 10. I'm sure I'll see more as the list is revealed.
Obviously (to those who have read my musical posts over the years) the lone Bob Mould vote was mine. He’s the most important post-punk alternative guitarist who is also a hell of a songwriter and influenced countless bands over 20-30 years.

Yeah, but no solos, so who gives a fuck, right?

Said similar about Homme, a couple posts back. But I do also have a couple on my list that are heavy on the solo acrobatics over sound/inflence. And a fair few individual performers. Just went with what felt right. In fairness, Mould should have been more at the forefront of my mind having been recently mentioned elsewhere. But it was what it was, an on the spot list. Which, arguably is your most honest top 10. Till you see others that you left out.

Polls like this can be frustrating because "manual dexterity" is presumed equivalent to quality as opposed to being one element of quality. But everyone except dogs love fireworks, including me.

Not sure about the fireworks. I might be with the dogs.

Maybe the Neanderthals looked up at the sky and went, "Ugg. Big fire in sky!" or whatever their equivalent words were, whenever they saw lights up there.

(To be fair, I like a good organised display that's had money spent on it, as opposed to some inept personal show.)

So do I. Just listening to Gardenia by kyuss now, really not much to it, skill wise. Other than a really thick sound that you almost feel in your lungs and belly. Like power-walking through a heavy cloud. A place for both, in my book. A decade or so later, add Grohl's drums to that and you have an incredible album.
