Maria McKee (NB: not McGee!) is the 2nd singer on my list to make it. Nice one!

I was her other voter.

Known mostly for her (movie soundtrack?) massive hit, Show Me Heaven. But has done some amazingly good albums too. Both solo and with Lone Justice (saw them play at the Poly and International)

Life Is Sweet is my favourite solo album. Saw her tour that at Academy 3 with her then husband on bass ... (though recently she has converted to the Isle of Lesvos apparently) top gig.

Of course, her duet of Show Me Heaven with Robin Zander on his solo album just takes it to a new height, natch ;-)

Wish I had remembered Vega. Saw her live just before lockdown and it was Sublime. Also forgot Grace Slick but not a huge fan of all her incarnations so will forgive myself that one.

On reflection I should have given my choices more thought. Beth Hart is one omission I would have rectified. I an sure there will be others as the list is revealed.
A shout out to Aurora. Her new album is stunning and along with St. Vincent is leading a new wave of artistic female fronted art pop. Too new to make my list but a definite one to watch for.

I only saw her once, at the Astoria in London some 20 odd years ago. Got 4 albums of her albums - the eponymous 'Lone Justice' debut, plus the 3 solos 'Maria McKee', 'You gotta sin to be saved' and 'Life is sweet'. Haven't really got a favourite, cos there's songs I like on all of them, but if I had to pick one I'd go for 'Don't toss us away' off 'Lone Justice'. I'm presuming she doesn't perform anymore cos it's been donkey's years since I saw any gigs of hers listed......?

Great to see Denise in there. She always engaged with fans & Blues on Twitter, and always wore full kit on match days!
As well her well known work with Primal Scream and her solo acoustic album before her sudden & untimely death, she also worked with A Certain Ratio, New Order and Electronic.
