Pointless thread until transfers
Marvin said:Utd will struggle if they get into the Champions League. They had a big advantage this season without European football and still only got 70 points which is way less than what Arsenal got in 4th spot last season. In 2013/14 that would have seen them 6th.
Everyone assumes they will strengthen again but they'll have to spend to stand still: spine of team: De Gea, Carrick and RVP need to be replaced, and they need 1 or even 2 central defenders. That's an amazing amount of engineering. LVG has the most difficult job of the top 4 managers given what he spent last Summer.
But who would take their place? Spurs are the closest and still a long way off

If you hire a better manager I could see you competing with Chelsea and probably coming 2nd, but with Pellegrini in charge I don't think you'll get the best out of the current crop of players (plus his signings haven't been anything to write home about imo).
you honestly think we`ll finish 4th????? do you think we will have the same squad??
Mangala and Bony looked very good in the closing weeks, unfortunately we haven't been able to put Aguero and Bony together but Bony has looked awesome when he's come on. His touch is immaculate. Instant control. I'd have played Bony and Aguero together and replaced Toure with Milner in a central midfield role, but Pellegrini doesn't change City's team at all.GHoddle said:If the managerial situation doesn't change, I'd say:

Chelsea got lucky with injuries - Terry played the whole season and Hazard played a lot of games. Take Hazard out of Chelsea and they would be nothing. I don't think they are that good. If Mourinho thought his team was the best, he wouldn't send them out to defend against rivalsGHoddle said:richards30 said:GHoddle said:If the managerial situation doesn't change, I'd say:

No I think you'll spend money but the others will as well. Right now I see Chelsea having the best team and best manager so I think they'll come 1st. Imo Arsenal, United, and City are pretty close in terms of quality of players and I think that will still be the case after the transfer window, so my ranking is based on what I think is the quality of the managers. That's why I said with someone like Klopp or Ancelotti you'd finish 1st or 2nd, but I don't think Pellegrini is good enough.
