Does finishing 4th still mean a play off to qualify for the champions league?
No that was dropped years ago. I think it's the top 4 league gets 4 spots in the group stages.

But they won't be given a half-decent group because according to UEFA, they're the seventh best team in Europe (really). Ahead of all the teams that got further than them in the EL this season. Ahead of Juventus, who actually qualified for the CL, got further than them in the EL, and don't have a recent history of regularly missing out on CL qualification. Ahead of Inter, who are in the final. So basically, there will be the pot of league winners, and they'll somehow be in the second pot after that.Thing is Liverpool could be OK again next season. Better for us they slog the Thursday nights, Utd would go out of a half decent CL group anyway.
