Tories have lost the vote of the young generation.

Nah, you’re right. They want to be on the streets. Very popular at the moment as there’s more homeless appearing on the streets every day. These crazy kids eh?
I said there's all sorts of reasons people end up on the streets, and thanks, yes I am right.

I think the average without overtime of £31,000 is enough and that's just for starters. I'm not a rabid socialist so I am not driven by virtue signalling politics. If you want to concern yourself with the poor then concentrate on the poor.

Shouldn't politics (which is essentially ethics) concern itself with the 'poor' or the vulnerable? Isn't that the whole idea?

I do accept though the removal of the bursary is a major concern when it comes to training new nurses. Thats a ridiculous decision.

That's what we agree on, but I will never accept that a degree educated worker is someone I should fight for when there are working poor left to support.

Nurses earn £22000 up to £28000. They can earn more in management roles but £31000 isnt the average nurses wage.

Of course it was fucking stupid. Great vote winner at the time though as Labour voters finally thought social mobility was on the horizon for their children. Instead it's resulted in no increase in social mobility (arguably less with the introduction of fees) and massive debts for the nation's young.

I think there are immediate things that can happen to improve the situation:
  • Introducing better renters rights so that saving a deposit is possible when privately renting
  • Tax the fuck out of second+ homes and habitable houses that aren't occupied
  • Enforced low cost sale of brownfield sites to councils if left undeveloped for a long period
  • Make housing developers build a minimum percentage of 2 and 3 bedroom houses on plots (especially if they're in short supply in the area)

Good ideas mate

Can you explain why Labours ethics changed from supporting the working class to calling them racists and uneducated idiots? Whilst at the same time supports the middle class? If you genuinely think that Labour support the poor then I am at a loss to what's to discuss.

are they being built and left empty? Or are they being occupied thus signifying that at least the South West region is meeting the demand with supply. Only when they build houses that remain empty through lack of demand does your argument hold water.
You seem to be lacking in the understanding practical realities of life department.

Only when houses are lying empty? FFS mate. Try to have just an atom of pragmatism.

I got my degree in days when it was full grant - about £42 / week if my memory is right. Full grant as I was from poor home and background.
Was it worth it to the taxpayer?
Well in the past 10 years I've probably paid more than £40k PER YEAR in tax and maybe £20k each of the previous 10 years. Yes probably half a million or more just in income tax. Without the education I would have been just as smart but I wouldn't have got the jobs.
Taxpayers funding education can pay back.
My kids have both got degrees - I consider my taxes well spent even though they're looking at best part of £100k student debt between them.
I am the same position as you went to university with a grant. Then went on to ger proffessionally qualified. Like you paid my fair share of tax which I am happy to pay consider I got educated for free.
My girls are a bit young still but dread to think what debts they will rack up.
