I would do a straight swap for Tevez right now!
Torres may just need a change of scenery and need better players around him, there is no doubting on his day what a top player he is.

I dont know with Torres, I know he's not very popular with a few of us on here, but he was on song with Liverpool with a handy goal ratio, and as soon as he went to Chelsea, he started to struggle badly, dont know if any factors behind the scenes could be affecting him, or is it because he just does'nt fit in with Chelsea scene?????.......may take a punt on him and it would and could be a big risk or maybe not, certainly only maybe 15million [ dont laugh now ], how Chelsea got took for 50million I still shake my head at it...............

Wrong! Many of us were saying it for eons that he was spent. I remember as far back as last october when the argument was btw getting him or Dzeko, I and a few others said then, that the injury riddles ex-world class striker was a spent force. This wasn't a guess. It was simply looking at his most recent performances. I don't know why this thread keeps resurfacing. It seems people just can't seem to get over the fact that talent wanes. He was great, now he is not. Can we still buy him? Sure! But why would we?

Sure we'd get the guy for 20-30mil but come on guys - there will be some 19yr old out there ready to prove himself and smash some goals in who we could get for the same price.
He has played all right recently interms of work rate, just hasn't bagged the goals.
Towards the end or next season he might start scoring again and be world class, who knows?
as said I'd rather with the big scouting network we have find some other talent, and utilise this as our backup choice.... oh wait, John Guidetti?

Very much this.
I rate Torres, and I do think he could once again become good enough to terrorize any opponent, but it would be a huge gamble. So let's say it would take £25-30m to get Torres, well then I'd much prefer we spent the same amount on Muniain for example.

I swap him for kettleneck too, get that fucker out of the club and get someone who could at least do a job for us when needed, and whats more there is no outlay.
He was bad for Liverpool in the latter stages, bad for Spain and bad for us. Three different supporting casts, one featuring the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso and Busquets; and none of them could restore his form. I've been backing him since he arrived, but after a year of poor performances, with one spell early this season where he was looking good, you've just got to concede that he's a spent force. I think he should be sold to a slower league like Italy where his considerable pace (which he still has) can still be exploited. Physically he is absolutely fine. The problem with him is he hesitates so much. He is afraid to shoot and makes bad decisions, usually involving extra touches meaning his chance is gone. Recently he's become a bit of a playmaker to compensate for it but I don't think he'll ever be as prolific as he used to be.
