Tosin Adarabioyo

As this season is not panning out too well for the senior team in the league and the rebuild will not continue until the summer I see a massive opportunity for Pep to integrate a number of the Academy stars for the last few months of the season. I just hope that Tosin will still be here in order to be included.
What we must all remember however is that it is so so difficult for youth players to break through into the first team at any big club due to the pressures of success.

I actually think it's a problem that we're not doing so well; if we were in Chelsea's position we'd have a chance to integrate youth and likewise if we were 10 points from 4th. The fact we have to fight for a champions league spot actually limits the chance to integrate youth in my opinion.

I'm not sure if Tosin needs to be the first example of this but I think in general we are going to have to get used to players coming through our academy and moving on. The allure of our academy being the facilities is great and it will create incentive for good players to come here to develop with the best at the best facility. This is surely a part of our pitch -- come here, learn from the best, play with the best, and when the time comes you can move on to any team in Europe having proven yourself in the Manchester City academy. I'd find it hard to begrudge them for taking advantage of our academy setup in this way, we get the first look and option on them and if they show serious talent they might push for a spot in our first team. The vast majority will not and the right move for them will be to go somewhere else to continue to climb the ladder.
I wouldn't accuse any of them of taking advantage of us regardless of circumstance, it cuts both ways after all. They get a top football/general education (a much improved general education for 99% of them) and we get to have a look at them for a number of years to cherry pick the very best. We'd have to change the 1st team every season if they all got to play for us after all. It's a win-win situation for all I'd have thought (including their future clubs) which makes some of the individual decisions (usually by parents acting as agents) strange but everybodies got their own take on it I suppose.

If he leaves for money reasons I won't be disappointed. Considering him a 'first team' player was a bad move IMO, gave him too much to work with.

Surely naming him as a first team squad player was showing our faith in him regardless of minutes played.

It will be nice if he can do a Fernando and sign new contract with us then we can sell him for some profit.

Not sure why, with another MuEN article about the lad, the media feels Tosin should expect more playing time. His contract lasts another 5 months I guess, true, but he made a step up to the 1st team squad as a 19 year old centre back. Not the easiest position for such a young lad and there is strong competition. He can't expect more than just a step up to the senior team, unless he proves he is good enough on the training pitch. Apparently Pep and the whole of his coaching staff that is nearly as big as the players squad, think Tosin needs to take it step by step.
That's why I expect Tosin to sign an extension (if it's handed to him ofcourse) and give himself another year, maybe two, to become a regular starter. Unless he and the club knows there's an even better one coming through the ranks ...

Paul Hirst has been tweeting - the club are not worried and fully expect him to extend his contract.

:)

Would have thought we'd have sent him to a championship side on loan as he's not looking like getting games with us with a view to him impressing and getting a squad spot with some actual game time if he stays next season.

Pep obviously thinks he doesn't need a loan.

He's talked more today about wanting to play him more, but feeling that the side is not very settled at the moment and he needs to be very careful when to play him under those circumstances or else he could really set him back.

If we get more settled, Pep will throw him in.

I'd hope so but it's so tight I have my doubts, just think a loan maybe to someone like Hull would have let him have a run and more game time to allow us to evaluate him.
