Total Eclipse 8/4/2024.

I’ve just watched a video of people screaming and shouting when it happened. I don’t get the false reaction. Just shut the fuck up and watch it happen.
There were gasps in 1999. It really is a weird phenomena to experience. Temperatures plummet, it’s nigh on pitch black and animals do random things.

Even if you know what is coming, it’s an eerie and awesome experience.

Watching it live means you don’t get the journalistic overreaction though.

It was total in Cornwall. I was there.

It was 21 years ago today – August 11, 1999 – and Cornwall had never experienced anything like it (well, not since 1927 anyway). The county was the only part of mainland Britain to witness the rare total solar eclipse – the full blacking out of the sun by the moon.

Next one due here is in 2090.
That does not make sense "21 years ago today- August 11, 1999." :-)

I was in St Ives on the beach for the 99 eclipse. 100% cloudy, but eerily dark and all the birds flew in from the sea. Turned noticeably colder too.

Good luck to those that are wanting to view it in the states.
As described, and the cold and the 360 degree sunlit ring around the horizon is what got me today. Just an amazing experience, and one I'll never forget. I saw the 2017 one at 90% totality, and the near 4 minutes in 100% totality today blew that away. The AM fog cleared away by midday for a clear viewing experience.

No music where I was, just the enjoyment and changes that today's even brought and the gratitude for good weather. Repping the Blues on TV in Nashville this past weekend at Fan Fest was icing on the cake that was today's Main(e) Event. What a trip!

My son sent me pictures and it's glorious today. He's taken the day off and was down at the beach.
It was a beautiful day, some very high, wispy cloud that didn’t detract from the event at all. The eclipse itself was just amazing. The photos you can get from a mobile phone don’t do it any justice whatsoever. We watched it from the plaza between the basketball arena and the baseball stadium, where we went afterwards to watch the Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox.

We had a fantastic view of it; the sky stayed practically cloudless, apart from a few wispy, very light ones.

We watched it with the owners of the diner and it was a wonderful experience.

As it grew darker, I noticed the birds singing their roosting chorus. It wasn’t until the last ten minutes or so before totality that the darkening atmosphere became noticeable, and then it got dark quickly , and as I remember it from 1999, the darkness at totality was eerie.

It didn’t get as dark as it did in 1999, but that might have been because of the heavy cloud cover.

As totality passed, the light reappeared as quickly as it went.

The photo below was taken with my iPad at totality. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show the ring around the sun very well.

It was well worth the drive up from Florida.

It wasn't a total eclipse in the UK.Best you could get was in Cornwall. I was in Northern Austria just south of Munich and experienced the total eclipse, absolutely awesome.
In case you’re not aware, Cornwall is part of the UK, and it was in the path of totality.

I should know, I was there.
