This would come accross bitter outside of this board, but I don't actually rate him that much.

Admittedly I've probably not seen enough of him, but he's never really stood out for me in games I've watched. Let's hope I'm right...

He's ok, but since he's been on the bench constantly for the last few years i doubt he'll be much good for the Spuds in the first half of the season. He does being his wife with him tho who's god damn hot!

this acquisition doesn't scare me at all. Last May the entire footballing world was saying how our game versus them was the '40 million game' and Spurs fans were adamant that if they won they'd use that money to strengthen and be a competitor for the forseeable future. Well from what I can tell, they've signed a 100 year old centre back, had to wait until literally the last minute to bid for a creative central midfielder in which they already have a great one in Modric, and the owner has pocketed the rest of the Champions League funds.

Unless they go 4-5-1, and even that would be a pretty lightweight team, I don't see how vdv helps them dramatically.

It's a bloody bargain if Bent Arry does get his man for only 8 million. He is the type of creative midfielder we could have used in our squad. Perhaps Modric may get the hump and be available in the January window instead.

We know its Harry, so the deal could well stink of shit and lies. However, i seemed to recall something about van der vaart last summer and £8M.

Yes, thats right he was available for £8M back in June 2009.

Even Talksport had linked van der vaart with three clubs, two weeks ago.

I think its fair to say, Harry tells some porkies about only being aware of the deal 2 hours before deadline.

Good player but hes had problems at Real. Twitchy is good with these type of deals though.

Real have a track record of getting rid of quality players on the cheap (Snider) They also have a track record of ruining world class players pretty quickly (Huntelar) Which is why he is so cheap IMO, at this stage he is a gamble.

Could go either way, hes been linked with the likes of Rags, Bayern for a while something is a little off that none of the big clubs have come in for him with the fee being so low.

He looked decent in the World Cup. Harry has stated that they will play 4-5-1 in Europe and on the road which will suit him and their new six foot plus DM from Brazil. Sandro is an excellent player who just won a major trophy in S. America and is in the new Brazil squad.
