Tottenham Hotspur thread (2015/16)

I can't understand the mentality of Levy, this season is their best chance of cracking the top 4 and the rewards it would offer them, United are crap, Arsenal and just Arsenal, Chelsea are in the midst of José's third season syndrome Liverpool have not got a cat in hells chance yet he still fails to invest in the players

This hasn't been the first great chance they've been handed and pissed away either. They could have invested and put their boot into Arsenal whilst they were hamstrung with the stadium move. Us arriving on the scene made Levy completely lose his bottle. Since we beat them to top 4 they haven't even looked interested in having another go.

We've had this discussion a few times haven't we. You could apply that to any of the last few seasons when there's been a top four place up for grabs. David Gill made it clear he thought Levy was an short-sighted idiot, far more concerned about getting an extra few quid for a player than doing some decent squad building.

The thing that confuses me is that the potential in Spurs (and you could say the same about Villa) is huge, since City have blown the cosy cartel there is a place or even two up for grabs for a club that is prepared to invest, and investment will bring it's own rewards

I wouldn't be happy with Levy if I were a Spurs fan. He doesn't seem to want to push for that next level, happy enough to take the £.

The Spurs guy at work tells me that there's no point in criticising Levy for not spending if they simply don't have the budget. Whatever the reason it is a shame as far as shoving United's and Liverpool's faces in the mud.

Maybe Everton, Palace, Swansea and Leicester can defy logic and battle for top 3/4. What a season it could be?

Spurs look very ordinary this season.

I'm surprised at the style of football they play, it's nothing like the football Pochettino played at Southampton. I don't see any of the intense pressing and quick, attacking football which Southampton played under Pochettino. Southampton were great to watch under Pochettino, but Spurs are a bit boring really.

Obviously Pochettino is putting a lot of faith in young players, but I'm just not convinced some of those young players are that good. Will Mason, Bentaleb, Dier or Carroll ever be brilliant centre midfielders? I don't think so. All four look to me like fairly ordinary Premier League players, but Spurs haven't got anything better in that area.

Going forward there it still looks like they're relying too heavily on Kane. I'm a big fan of Kane, but to expect him to score 31 goals again this season is unbelievably optimistic. Chadli, Alli, Lamela, Townsend - where's the goals coming from there? Heung-min showed glimpses of quality yesterday, but he's going to need time to settle. Eriksen needs to come back from injury ASAP for Spurs, they've got no creativity without him.

Spurs are probably the toughest of our next 4 fixtures we need to win in order to break Arsenal's consecutive wins record, having seen them this season I think we will beat them comfortably.

I think most neutrals want someone to crash the top 4 but I just can't see it happening again. City, Arsenal and United will be there and Chelsea will go on a run and sign some big players in the winter market.

Levy's has become obsessed with the net spend, it's the lowest in the league over the past 5 seasons. Whether he has the stadium in mind or just being a tight fecker. To be fair he did spend all the Bale money and he did spend big like people hoped, it was just full of players who aren't good enough for a top 4 spot along with some dreadful ones.

When it comes to Spurs I don't really have any high expectations, as every man and his dog says they will always let you down. I'm still hoping for an FA cup win, the one I want the most!!

I can't argue too much with this, even when we were crap with Gross we still played decent football. These past few seasons (started with AVB) I've never seen us play so slow and predictable football. The past few seasons everyone has let us have possession and done us on the break. I don't think MP was entirely happy with the window but I rarely see him change it up.

Kane has played well for me, he's deserved a goal so I'm not too worried about him not scoring in a few games. A lot of Spurs fans like Chadli probably because he pops up with a goal now and again. I just don't see him do enough off the ball or with the ball. He looked decent in the middle when Townsend came on yesterday but the whole team got a lift when Townsend and Lamela came on. Sunderland are dreadful so I expected more to stand out, apart from Mason I didn't see too many positives in the game. They could have easily scored a couple of goals against us if they didn't hit the woodwork.

I think Dier, Bentaleb and Mason will continue to get better but not enough for one challenging for anything special, Alli looks great on the ball so far, I'm surprised how quick he's settled in. Eriksen, Kane and Lloris could easily move and go onto better things, but Eriksen blows hot and cold too often for us, if he was consistent then we'd have a real player on our hands

I dread Aguero playing against us, I watched him v Palace the other day and I think it was Dann who took him out, I don't want him fit against Spurs because he always runs rings around us!!
