I said at the time of the transfer that I couldn't believe the money this guy was going for, but, other people in football probably knew better than me. Always seemed to spend more time on his arse, or whingeing at the ref/everyone else, than making a significant contribution.
I think I underestimated myself.
Well we have seemingly gotten to the stage where even mediocre players seem to be going for €60m... however, even with that in mind, they massively overpaid for Richarlison.

I don't even rate him that highly though - never have. Mediocre players have something good going for them. I just can't see what it is with Richarlison at all. Stealing a hell of a living, though!
(I bet his next club is Turkish.)

Turkish or Portuguese.

It’s amazing that it is the only line of work where you can be sacked for incompetence and get paid up fully and seemingly get another job in the industry without any problems
Shows how much money passes through the game of football, and football media when failures of thr game keep reappearing as players/managers
Politicians too.
Here we go to another level, politicians are meant to serve their constituents and the public......

If they drop out of the CL for a long time, the revenues will drop significantly and the stadium will not be full.

They were already seeing people not turn up under Mourinho and last season.
If they don't finish top 4 this season then it's likely that they become like Arsenal, where it was only Kronke finally spending money that improved them. Newcastle although they have hit a brick wall would be a much better prospect for players if they get top 4.

They have spent a lot of money but on a lot of shit and average players. People like Davinson Sanchez, Bentancur, Richarlison, Doherty. They’re painfully mid table at best.

I don’t understand why Spurs don’t aim for the same level of players Chelsea and Liverpool sign. They claim they’re a big club (and they are) yet they go for really shit signings.

Won't pay the wages. Why the fuck would you choose those cunts over Chelsea or Arsenal?

Well done Conte. Get your money and get the fuck outta there.

Best ground in the land and all the world!

Has Conte been fired then?
Levy probably doesn't want to pay the remaining on Conte's contract. I think he's waiting until Conte 'breaches' it so Levy can save a couple of million.

That's how much of a businessman, rather than a sports businessman he is, he can't resist that urge... and that's what I was telling JimB. He wouldn't have it though.

This all further adds to my long held view that Levy is not the messiah some Spurs fans seemingly regard him to be (NB some Spurs fans dislike him). His model of taking lots of small to middling risks with signings and simply employing managers who are 'names' has clearly been shown to be a failure. He appears to promise the earth to big name managers (Conte and Mourinho) and then fails to deliver his side of the bargain.

It's not as if he has been unfortunate in the last few years. Bale was on the scrapheap and ready to be sold to Forest for £2m, if rumours were to be believed, but he went on to be a generational player. Same with Kane. He only came into the team because Soldado was more of a Soldudo. There was no suggestion, prior to Soldado signing, that Kane had a long term future at the club as he had about 10 loan spells in the lower leagues. Even with these players, Spurs have only managed to win one league cup (2008) since 1991/2.

That reminds me.....how the hell have Spurs ended up as a club that has a strong influence in the PL, are regarded as one of the major PL clubs and have a seat on the ECA?? They are no more than the weedy, annoying sidekick of the school bully that you wouldn't tire of slapping.

Maybe now he will focus on the mess Spurs are in rather than running to the PL and the ECA to complain about City.

I don't believe a manager of Conte's ability is completely at fault for their season. But at the same time, they seem to be tactically setup to be 1-0 down in the first 45 minutes before attacking late on in a game and to lose 2-0. They limped out of the FA Cup at Sheffield United. They really should be in the semi final looking forward to losing to us next month. They limped out of the CL. 1-0 down, at home in a new ground with 60,000 fans and they could only muster a couple of efforts. Where was the passion and the fight from them? That has to be because of Conte's tactical approach as much as mentality.

Pochettino will come back, get them playing brilliantly again whilst winning nothing and finishing 4th.

Levy knew exactly what he was getting with Conte - another Maureen. A dour, surly and quarellsome man whose idea of football is to get everyone behind the ball and just defend for over 90 minutes.

You'd have thought after the dull and monotonous tedium of Mourhino's reign Levy would have thought twice about employing someone like Conte. A man who was never going to win over the fans with his tactics and explosive temper.

Levy got what he deserves.
