Tough start to the season compared to our rivals | December comparison (Pg10)

On today’s performance, we can win every game for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, that’s why you play the games, because surprise results ALWAYS pop up!

I’ve no doubt the Top 6 will all have at least one surprise loss before the end of the season, but it’ll be the draws you should have won that’ll be looked on as having killed PL hopes of the also rans.

When i looked at our first dozen fixtures i came to the conclusion it was a stitch up from the Premier league but we have come through all the difficult away games with flying colours , now we need to get our act together against the park the bus teams that come to the Etihad , Palace , Saints and Burnley have all caused us problems. The solution is to take more of the many chances we make , Sterlings fall from grace means we are missing 20-25 goals a season , so we need someone to step up sooner or later or sign a penalty box predator.

It's not just about the dropping of points in those games, that can happen as you say. The level of the team dropped and the performances didn't really merit any more than we got. It kind of undoes all the hard work the team have done in winning the bigger games. I'm sure Pep knows you can't ignore performances like that or brush them off. We normally have a couple of those every season but not so close together at the start of the season. I just hope the team remain focused for every game now, we could go on another winning streak if they do.

That's a pessimistic take, imo. Take Southampton. We were without Laporte/Stones at CB, without Rodri, and without Foden and Kevin in the starting XI. Not having Stones/Laporte+ Rodri hampered our build-up play. Not having Foden and Kevin stopped us from creating more chances. When they were subbed in, we nearly won the game.

Or take Palace. We weren't that bad at all. We won't get many red cards while trailing the result. Shit day at the office. For me, our performances in the big games are very encouraging. Admittedly, we should find consistency against the weaker teams. But nothing indicates we can't. Time will tell.

I was thinking the same thing myself today. However, the Southampton and Crystal Palace performances and results should not be overlooked. If not for those, we'd be saying it's a great start to the season. So, as good as we've been in the big games, those were two winnable games where City didn't show up and we can't afford too many more of those types of performances.

Exactly, the two easiest games we were shit. Need to cut out this complacency, no point beating Chelsea and rags away if we then can’t be arsed against the likes of bloody Palace.

The tough start is not a coincidence in my opinion. The powers in charge deliberately tried to give their red favourites a head start hoping we would go so far behind that it would demoralize us. Did we play Chelsea and Liverpool away before and after PSG in the Champions League? That was just a joke and to me a clear attempt of sabotaging our season. Well guess what you FA fuckers. It didn't work.
Never does!

We’re Man City the best team in the land in all the world.

Said the same as soon as I saw the fixtures, ultimately we all play the same fixtures, but momentum can be a big influence in results.

We need to sort out our home form though, because its not great, drawing with Southampton, and losing to Palace, and we weren't great against Burnley either.

The only game of concern for me was the Southampton one. We were bad and outplayed for large parts. I think tiredness played a big role, but that's likely to crop up again later on so it's something we need to be hyper vigilant to avoid.

The Tottenham loss was caused by us missing half a team and having no preseason; that won't be an issue moving forwards. The PSG defeat was down to their individual player quality. It might crop up again in the CL but in the PL it's likely a rare issue for us ahead. We won't play at Anfield in the league again. West Ham was an unlucky performance with the 2nd team against a resolute defence. And the Palace game, okay we were a goal down but if we played the way we did in the 2nd half but with 11 men there's a good chance we could've won. We won't play too often with 10 men for a full half.
