Bit of hard luck really for Wiggins as he was in a great position to have a decent tour.
Another great day for the viewer though.

The teams have one man who they think will win the tour and the rest are there to help him. If you're confused now, wait til the mountains.
how can they help them? what happens in the mountains?

Basically, the teams lead rider is protected from the wind by having another team member riding directly in front of him.

The little mad fuckers come to the fore on the mountain stages the daft bastards.

haha love it. so has this english fella got a chance or not?

You mean Cavendish. Not the yellow jersey, but he's well placed for the green, currently only 17 points behind Rojas.

Yes, Cavendish is a sprinter, so he'll look to accumulate as many points as he can before the mountain stages. Have a look at the tour website, it gives the standings for all the competitions, yellow. green, team, king of the mountains etc. Different riders have different strengths, so you'll probably start to see Schleck and Contador come to the fore in the mountains.

Computer's been bolloxed for a bit so not had chance to comment on this thread. Totally love the Tour and totally gutted about Wiggo. Infact, got home from work, avoided talkSPORT and any other sport bulletin as I usually do so it doesn't spoil my 7 til 8 fix on ITV4, but tonight at about 5 to 7 the Bury FC Lottery man knocks on my door for his £2 and totally ruins it all by blurting out that Wiggins is out with a busted collar bone. I could have knocked the fucker out! Gggrrrrrrr.

With Contador getting mixed up in that big crash on day 1 I can't see him being allowed to make up the lost time this year. Barring crashes it's got to be Schleck's year (Andy). I hope so anyway as Contador's a bit of a boring fucker but it's going to be interesting seeing Contador trying (for once) to attack. Last year was a top Tour but this year's already surpassing it for me.

And Cav's gonna take the piss again in Paris!

Am the same as you JOGA re avoiding the Tour during the day and the drive home from work. Only to receive a text from the father in law yesterday afternoon saying, "not wanting to ruin your viewing later, but Wiggo's out". Cheers for that!

Real shame cos he looked in great shape this year. Haven't heard who's taking over as leader at Sky yet, but assuming it'll be Geraint Thomas? Still reckon he'll go well and finish well up the GC despite yesterday's setbacks. David Millar having a good un too, not to mention Cav, which goes without saying.

Should be interesting to see the Contador / A Schleck shake up in the mountains. Presumably Schleck's gonna try to sit on Alberto's back wheel throughout. I reckon Contador's gonna wear him down though - Schleck's not in great form this year and, as an earlier poster mentioned, Contador can call upon pretty much any Spanish rider for assistance.

I done Frank Schleck at the beggining of the Tour got 55/1 on him winning it. A better time trialiest than Andy and is as good as Andy in the mountains might be in yellow by the end of this stage.

I didn't fancy Wiggins for it this year, but he had a good chance of a podium finish. I thought the Sky team fucked it up totally though by telling the team to wait to see how Wiggins would be after the crash. They should have gone on, and if they found Wiggins to be OK then they could have got the team back to help him. They've now fucked Garaint over. Shit team management.

Nice to see Cav bagging a couple already. I hope that 10 point deduction won't cost him the Green.

Contador looked out of sorts going up that hill today, Schlek was sat on his wheel chillin out and Evans didnt look too shabby.
