Tourists

I think only people that are born within a five minute stroll of the stadium should be allowed in, with dispensation for folk from within a five min walk of the old Maine Street ground until they are all dead.

we should ban the tv cameras and just play the first team against the reserves every week, for our own trophies.

That'll show those wankers from vietnam, new yorkaway, china and chorlton who are jumping on the bandwaggon.

City for the citizens, I'm going to start a campaign.

Pretty young tourist sat near us last game. Much preferrer to the miserable rude arrogant twa? That normally have to put up with!

Can we stop labelling anyone with a camera as a bloody tourist.

We have this discussion every few damn months on here! And i always pop up to say i'm a lifelong blue who has had a season ticket over 20 years and went for years match by match before that too, and i'm into photography, and have took a few pics per match for 20 years.

Without people like me there would never have been a fans viewpoint in many books (Gary James has some cracking books for example, and they have contributions from fans), yet i feel like a billion people who don't even know me now judge me as "a tourist" just cos every tom dick and sally has a camera nowadays! I've been there every week. And the people around me in my seat know that (the ironic thing is the ones who are new faces every few matches look at me like *i'm* new!), but it's if i take a picture outside the stadium i just feel that everyone passing thinks i'm a newbie. Someone said so once as they passed.

It's deeply insulting actually to assume ANYONE with a camera is new. Some of us have careers or hobbies with photography, and tend to take a camera everywhere we go.

So lay off the assumptions at matches!

I agree with that. At Wembley I reckon we almost all had cameras and I believe it's up to us as fans to capture what we see and experience.

Some of the best images are often those taken by fans and, as someone who produces books, I hope that there are supporters who have been able to capture moments that official sources have missed.

When I produced Farewell To Maine Road in 2003 by far the best images were those captured by fans of scenes on the Kippax and in the areas around the ground - fans sitting on the Kippax demonstrating against Swales for example. No official photographer back then captured any of that stuff. It's priceless and I would urge all fans to capture whatever unusual moment or celebration they can.

I'd certainly be very interested in including quality fan photos if they add something or tell a story in "Manchester The City Years."

Tourists are a stain on our legacy. I agree with york away to this, it will feel watered down somewhat, if we win the PL trophy and there are a load of tourists and JCL's in the ground, instead of all those from beswick, fallowfield, levenshulme, hulme or northenden who have been 'there' down the years. I think if our dreams are realised and we do win it, there should be another 'homecoming' at the stadium, but this time instead of tickets, we should produce a council tax bill, coupled with some sort of photographic i.d. This would kill two birds with one stone, only the residents of manchester can get in, but leaving those on the social as their council tax bill goes to the DWP.
Winner winner chicken dinner!

Lads (and Lasses, I haven't forgotten you...)

First time poster, piggy-backing on this as I don't have the required clout to post my own...

I'm going to be in Manchester around October this year to see my first game (and for those of you ready to jump down my throat, I'm fairly certain my old man has some photos of me in a City shirt at a Hobart test from around 1997). A mate from Manchester is going to have me in hand, but my Mrs is going to be tagging along, at least for a drink before, and we'll need somewhere to stay for the night..

Where's somewhere not too pricey, but nice and decent, happy if its above a pub etc. Prefer something Mrs-friendly... Its my honeymoon after all, and its a fair trip from Melbourne.

WHAT IS A TOURIST.

I personally welcome our long distance fans, the more the merrier, apart from that glory hunting tosser Austinblue who i think is a bit of a closet rag

I only pretend to support City so I can visit you and Mrs R.Sole and infiltrate your palace of love.

I'm American , and have spent the better part of the last 10 years "vacationing" to Manchester supporting a football club that if this forum is any indication doesn't want me anymore. The next time im touristing it up taking photos and trying to bring beer to my seat with me, I'm ok with anyone confronting me in real life. Getting banned from the stadium and going on vacations to nice places may actually save my marriage , or since this seems mostly an Internet thing , if someone wants to PayPal me the money I've spent glory hunting , I'll never set foot in your sacred town again.
Don't worry about some people on here. All city fans are friends to me.

You've obviously not read the thread because the majority view is that fans such as yourself are very welcome.

Many of those expressing hostility are only bell-ends who think the number of games you've attended has a direct correlation to their penis size. Losers.
