“I’m dreaming of a White Christmas” takes on a whole new meaning in some places along the lakes!!
The lake effect snows along the Great Lakes can be absolutely brutal. We have avoided a second home in Michigan for that very reason!!
The sunsets over Lake Michigan (looking towards the west from MI) can be spectacular! Multi-million dollar views in most cases! However, for 3 months of the year it’s almost unlivable, because getting in or out requires “equipment!”
The southern shore of Lake Erie is similar, because when those cold northern winds blow over the warmer lake, it’s a snowmaking machine with the pump turned up to 11!
There are many lake effect, snow belt cities that get far more winter snow than the famous ski resorts out west!!
