Genuine question... can you join a union & opt out of any of your money going towards the Labour party?

Yep just tick the box the stops Perty contribrutions.

Joining a union is the best workplace insurance policy you can get. Love them or hate them the workplace would be a worse place without them.
NO ONE wants to go on strike and before a strike theres loads of discussion about resolving the issues. Most of which the general public don't get to hear about

Cheers :-)

I wouldn't want my cash going to any political party!

Being a Union member is about much more than the common stereotype image.

I'm sure it is Macca & in a few years if I become a teacher as I hope to then I daresay joining a union will have many benefits for me. Still don't want any of my cash going to a political party though :-)

Indeed not.

I have never found my Union membership encroaching on my political beliefs to be honest. They remain completely separate.

Used to be in a union until i realised the union rep was shit scared of losing his job and thus he allowed the company to bully him and hence, fcuk us.

Divide and rule is the bosses motto. Solidarity and Unity is the workers motto. Workers of the world unite and get rid of the fat cat bosses and bankers who leech off us every day.

LOL

Thanks for spreading Tax Payer Alliance propaganda Cheesy. Every TU is a democratic organisation and all have to operate under stringent rules.
Some General Secretary's are running Unions with hundreds of thousands if not millions of members. So i don't think it's unusual to see large salaries which are nothing in comparison to the CEO's for the company's TU's deal with.
I can tell you from experience when a member comes to you for help they ain't bothered about a GS's pay but what you can do for them.
I can only speak for myself and the officers i work with but we work long and hard to do whats right by those we represent.

Without a recognised trade union, employees are simply individuals at the mercy of management. No bargaining power, no representation and no strength nor right to say 'No!' to unfair decsions or changes.
We may not agree with every aspect of a union that is there to represent us but without it we are f*cked.
Solidarnosc!

try getting a union in a small company (50 - 100 person workforce)

and see what happens.

I'm just pointing out that this whole 'workers unite against the fat cats' stuff is a bit silly really when you consider how much their union leaders can earn.
