I was at the Trafford Centre last night for the cinema.
One thing struck me. I considered the care and money lavished on the building and then thought of the dull, built down to a price childrens' hospital in Manchester and thought "we have completely got our priorities wrong as a nation."

That new shitty children's hospital still cost about £500,000,000.
Didnt they name one of the buildings, Ronald McDonald building or something similar? ..wtf

I think Ronald MacDonald house is run as a charity seperate from the hospital and is a place where parents live while there children are in hospital.

5 hours in this shithole today with the misses. It was beyond painful. I swear she would have stayed all day if she could. No sign of any recession in there! Never again.

I pride myself that I have never visited it and no intention of doing so. The sewage plant nearby with its odours gives me all the reminders I ever need.

-- Wed May 29, 2013 3:38 pm --

It's a fucking shopping centre.
As the only shops I frequent are Bargain Booze and William Hills, clearly it holds no fascination for me.
But as it gets Mrs Fetlocks out of the house for the day so I can watch the racing in peace, I have decided that it is a good thing.

A very fair point.

I've never been.

It isn't meant for people like me.

I can tell that from the vulgar exterior and the queues of highly polished downmarket cars with passengers eager to get into the place for their latest SuperDry jacket with the name on the back as well as the front.

Not to mention queues on the motorway that are a real hazard.

I'd sooner walk round Bury with a nail in my shoe than visit that shithole

Quit my job in the Orient last December, haven't been back since. Horrible place...

The Ronald McDonald House is a residential facility for parents so that they do not have to go home when their children are in hospital. McDonalds builds and funds these all over the world. They are totally free to use. It is a wonderful gesture from McDonalds that the food fascists would do well to remember. The £500 million figure includes all the scanners and equipment. Neuro surgery suites and MRI scanners are not cheap. I still think the building looks a disgrace.
