Trailer Time...

Pity that mermaid film wasn’t serious and dark! Looking at that trailer it’s a musical as well? So count me OUT..

I have to say, not all musicals are shit, although 98% are.

My favourite is "Sweeney Todd"; dark and serious as you wish, starring Johnny Depp with the only English accent he knows.

Makes it more humorous to me!

New releases this week

Cinema

Allelujah - Fri 17th March

Marlowe - Fri 17th March - (Sky Cinema as well)

Pearl - Fri 17th March

Rye Lane - Fri 17th March

Shazam! Fury of the Gods - Fri 17th March

Not up to date with the DC stuff so won't see Shazam.
Pearl looks interesting, A24 studios of course.
Rye Lane feels like a new type of British film.
Allelujah has everyone in it.
Marlowe looks like a decent mystery film with Liam Neeson.

Not sure if I'll actually go to watch any this week, got a couple to catch up on that I might check out instead. Marlowe the most likely for me.

Little English - Fri 17th March

Boston Strangler - Disney+ - Friday 17th March

The Magician's Elephant - Netflix - Friday 17th March

I'll probably watch the Boston Strangler from these 3.

She's got a great voice, so maybe.

They haven't really knocked it out of the park with these live action remakes though.

To be fair, it's difficult to do live action when someone has seen the animation version first.

I think it's to do with disassociation for the viewer and real world factors for the producers of the new film versions of cartoon classics.

It would be making fish with huge eyes, big smiles or similar to directly correlate with stronger and more familiar association.

Do people want to see "The Mask" again cos that's what it would boil down to?!

I know what I mean!! LOL!

Funny enough Sweeney Todd is my number 1 favourite musical followed by the original Willy Wonka…

"Allelujah" looks like a great love letter to the NHS and has me wistfully thinking 'Do I miss it or not?'. I love Alan Bennett's stuff.

I have "Marlowe" on my PC, so will watch it on that. Can't use my hard earned English pounds for Liam Neeson's work of late!

I agree with you on "Pearl". It's A24 and they haven't truly disappointed me yet!

As for "Rye Lane" it strikes me in personal cultural values, so I'm drawn to it.

Hope it's good!
