Trayvon Martin

I'm glad Zimmerman has been acquitted. Remember, he's been acquitted not necessarily because the jurors thought he was innocent, but because there can't be any reasonable doubt of his guilt.

The state cocked this up and let it become a circus. This man should not have been in the dock in the first place. I was 50/50 until the Defense summed up, the picture of Zimmerman taking immediately after the incident was more than enough to avoid charges, not just under stand your ground, but also self defense.

If a big fat black man had done the same to a skinny white teen do you genuinely believe the outcome would of been the same?

-- Sun Jul 14, 2013 8:01 pm --

Yes, I believe if an African American insurance underwriter that was attacked by an athletic Hispanic youth and received the injuries Zimmerman received before firing his weapon, I believe he wouldn't have faced trial. The only reason Zimmerman was brought to trial was because of the racial profiles - racial profiling, which the media can't stop harping on about, works both ways.

I've been off for the past fortnight and watched the trial in its entirety, for me, it's a tragedy Martin died but a travesty Zimmeran faced trial.

Wasn't he told by 911 not to pursue the guy but decided to do exactly the opposite, did he then confront Martin which resulted in him having to defend himself hence the injuries he sustained? Surely Zimmerman instigated this resulting in death.

That is a far too logical post for GazC to comprehend.

Seems most of the Americans are defending Zimmerman. I've got some advice for you, should you ever come to visit Britain, don't try it here because you're going to prison for a long time.

I'm from Manchester, I'm actually back in Manchester now, from today, I have just been in Florida for the last few weeks.

If you're going to argue that point you didn't see how it was rebutted by the defense, the 911 operator, by their own admission in court, was too ambiguous in the instruction given to Zimmerman. I'm not defending Zimmerman because I'm white, or because I'm American, because I'm neither. I think the acquittal was the right decision based purely off my opinion that was formed by watching the trial.

-- Sun Jul 14, 2013 9:31 pm --

You think you're not going to prison in Britain, seriously?

We've got our wires crossed, I meant my opinion of the verdict isn't skewed by where I'm from, not that the result would have been the same here if the same event happened here.

He racially profiled a child and stalked them against the advice of the police department he then scuffled with the child and killed him. He said it was Gods work, he said he had no regrets.

This happened in one of the most racist countries on earth, if you think all of this is ok then good luck.

I don't think it's ok, but that's the law of their land and based on that law Zimmerman acted within it. Fucked up, yes, without a doubt, and in a way I'm very glad I don't have to live in that country or state permanently. 6 jurors, after hearing the evidence, having an understanding of the law also reached the same conclusion. He was tried by his peers, it should end there, people should not then be tried by media.

I think he might wish he had been found guilty Gaz, the guy has signed his death warrant for what he did.

His Dad who is a judge of German descent is.

I'm not saying Zimmerman is "white" anyway I'm just saying it's the White Americans who are defending him.

This is true, I don't think it'll end here. Hopefully the only thing that's brought to an end is Florida's stand your ground laws and America's self defense and weapon laws.

-- Sun Jul 14, 2013 9:46 pm --
