Some of the stuff people are saying is absolutely insane and completely out of touch.

These cases end up being used to represent what an entire race of people go through. I believe its something like 5% of the entire population of black males in the states are in prison, they make up like 40% of prison population and are 10 or 15 % of the people in the country(just going off memory, its been a while). Therefore either the US is a pretty institutionally racist place , or blacks are evil people and should be put in internment camps.

I suppose rioting and other non positive things can over shadow the actual event, as I think/hope there would have been a bit more outrage over what happened to duggan if people didn't steal the focus of it robbing stores and shit. However, eventually people get pushed too far.

So, Steven Lawrence was murdered because of his racial profile. It took YEARS for this to come to court cos the police said there was a lack of evidence, despite the witnesses and the bragging of the murderers. Eventually, after many attempts they are found guilty and yet the Lawrence family are made victims of police profiling. An admittance from the former chief of police under that jurisdiction.

Why is the Steven Lawrence case so special...?? Hm, I dunno...

Apparently one of the men doing time for his murder is actually innocent by all accounts.
Lawrence was killed because he strayed into the wrong area after being told.
A few others folks have been killed for straying in the wrong areas its been going on for years,but a lot of these cases get pushed under the carpet and never heard on again..So im going to ask you the same question again.Why is lawrence so special?..
