I reckon a lot of us are looking at it through our English eyes. Having laws that allow folk to carry guns is just plain weird to us then add that if you feel threatened you can shoot someone is beyond belief. Mental.

In England he'd obviously be locked up. The States who knows. Never been, never going.

Not only in England but pretty much any other country in the world he would be locked up.

Its funny how they can send a black women for shootin into the wall to scare off her abusive husband 20 years but let this scumbag off for murder. I feel sick.

USA is such a fucked up country on so many levels.

Was there a jury for his trial?

Yes probably an all white collection of rednecks flown in from Arisona or Texas.

You could understand if Marissa Alexander got that sentence in a state with very strict gun control or something, but this also happened in Florida. What the actual fuck. She gets twenty years even though nobody got hurt, Zimmerman is a free man. What a ridiculous place Florida is. It's the home of my very favourite band, and I'd consider a visit to Gainesville almost like a pilgrimage, but I'm never ever going to Florida.

I agree, once i had respect of that country, now to see what this once great country has become is sickening. with their corruption, double standards and "land of the free" BS (patriot act) they even put a 19 year old in prison for a joking qoute on facebook ffs. not to mention how they treat minorites, women, other countries. the they break pretty much every civilised law there is.

Trying to get my head round the lynch mob mentality on here, Obama wanted justice and a jury delivered it.

The U.S has never been a great country. It was built on genocide, lies, slavery and greed.

I agree that for the majority of its history, it has been a pretty despicable country, but it was once content to keep its despicable acts within its own borders, and for brief periods of time, has been a genuine force for good in the world, and once had excellent (indeed the best) standards of living for its working people - as long as they were white of course.

Whilst fucked up the picture that has the two comparisons is also a bit skewed.

Marissa Alexander

Went to the home she had not stayed in for two months, spent the night there and waited for her husband to return, He did the next morning with their two sons, She then gave him her phone with a picture of "their" newborn child on it and went to the bathroom. He then saw texts on her phone from her ex-husband which could suggest that the newborn was not his. They had an argument where he told his boys to "get your things ready, we are leaving" she then went back in to the garage got a gun and then proceeded to go back in and whilst the husband and two sons were kneeling in front of her with her husband "pleading with her not to shoot" shot at him narrowly missing his head.

She could have left the house if she felt threatened through the front door, back door or even the master bedroom window but she chose to go into the garage, then come back out and not leave but shoot at her husband.

If there is to be a comparison at least make it fair and have both in prison.
