I'm not telling you
He was a bit before my time at City, and was just wondering if any older posters could tell me what he was like at City? my old man (not a big football fan) whenever he see's Francis on the TV states that he was a great player in his day, I know he was the first 1 million pound transfer to Forest, I just never hear of anything regarding him and City, he wasn't with us long was he?

fast as lightening and his debut at Stoke was a great day, the only thing to come near him since was Anelka............

injury prone but we believed he was the first mega signing of the 80's........sadly Swales had put him on a fabulous contract and we couldnt afford it and he went Sampdoria.............

our best player of the 80's, and then we went downhill.......

I remember him making his debut for City at Stoke and scoring two goals got fantastic memories of his short time at City only problem was he was very injury prone and didnt play as many games as he should.

Absolute quality. But injury prone.

Just the way we like 'em....

as a 16 year old for Birmingham he had immense potential,

Clough bought him for £1 short of a miilion and he helped Forest to 2 European Cups..........

Scored a classic one Xmas v wolves that took us to the top of the League.........

very....very.....fast

Top Player when we signed him .............England Centre Forward of the time and we beat United to his signature ........Equivalent to signing Shearer in his heyday ......

Absolute class but unfortunately missed quite a few games because of injury including both derbies ..

Sold him abroad to Sampdoria after one season because we couldnt afford his wages , replaced him with David Cross .........Like United selling Rooney and replacing him with Kevin Davies ....Needless to say within 12 months the manager resigned and we got relegated which at that time was unthinkable ..

why did he come to us???? Was we still regarded as a club going places or a big club at the time????

Yes, we'd just been beaten in the centenary cup final and reached the semi final of the league cup with 2 different teams (Allison team & John Bond team)

Trevor Francis is probably the best striker seen at City in all my time... Swales thought we couldn't afford him and sold him to sampdoria, but the drop in attendances (over 8k) showed that it was a poor decision by the board... the stay aways more than paid his salary.. That was the start of the decline!!!!

we had him in his prime, alas for only half a season cos of injury, the greatest forward ive seen at this club, remember the goal against wolves, think it was at the platt ln end on boxing day 1981.by the end of the season we knew he was on his way,i think we played coventry at home and remember singing from the kippax "youre just too good for us trevor"then on holiday in july in benidorm with the boys, some dipper walked over to me at the bar,i had my city shirt on,he told me francis had been sold, gutted.
