Trophy Parade | Sunday 26th May, 19:30

Hate to say it, but parades are an old, tired, pre-internet/socials/streaming holdover.

And, truth be told, I hate the staged hype that surrounds them and if I see another wasted, barely vertical, completely incoherent player OVERcelebrating days after the event, I’m going to throw up myself!

What is it about winning a professional award that makes athletes, esp British athletes, get shit-faced and make themselves look like an idiot millionaire who doesn’t know how to act his age, not his shoe size?

So, fucking tiresome! If you win a trophy, have a presentation to the fans at the next home game and get on with it!

It’s understandable to see kids, and grown men and women losing their shit over a significant victory AT an athletic competition, but to carry that over for days into a fucking painful glitzy celebration in the city? REALLY?
Really?
It was the best thing that could have happened for the team/fans to get over the disappointment of Saturday and celebrate our “City won four in a row”

I know where you’re coming from especially about the players getting shit faced, but I disagree, parades are for the fans and thousands of people love them.

I can see why Pep was against us having one this year if we lost the cup final though.

Players felt down after Saturday, and probably not looking forward to it. Ake alluded to it. Worries about the turnout from the players, what actually happened cemented the relationship between the players/manager and fans. They were taken back at the numbers and the reaction of the fans. Players absolutely loved it and so did the fans. Days like Sunday do not get forgotten by players and our manager when making a decision.

We do seem to be a bit too much in love with celebrations, They honestly sacrificed the chance for another trophy against 'them' of all things to squeeze in an extra knees up post league. These are athletes as Chicago Blue said, shouldn't be getting pssed week before last game - totally unprofessional and ruined our chance of a double - first half proved that, played like a pub side against a weaker opposition, tried to humiliate them with a 20 + pass goal in first 20 mins - didn't act professionally and got done because we couldn't be arsed to chase back (second goal). My old man said after 10 mins - even though we had all the ball - we will get done here as we were pssing about to look good and not for the good of the game..one, two's in our 6 yard box summed it up. Very disappointing end tbf. I do wonder if the English influence (Walker, Grealish) has encouraged others to be 'always on the booze' - well whenever opportunity is provided, so wrong at this level nowadays - do that when you retire.

I’m really surprised that Guardiola tolerates the booze culture and allowed that party after the West Ham game.

I said this in another thread and I hope I’m completely wrong but there’s a whiff of Gazza about Grealish.

Was pleased to see The Union Bears ( Rangers Ultras) have given the English bad boys uniform of black hoodies a miss, they were dressed in light blue hoodies. Could start a trend down here.
Could do without any connection from the City Centre wreckers - that was not long ago when that lot started literally sh*tting in Tib Street, mate had a shop there and nearly stood in it when putting his barriers down over the windows! Pal they were filth that time. Lest we forget

Get up to speed mate, in the rival fans thread 90% of posters on here were saying rangers were their second team!

Weird as fuck, short memories some people.

Agreed, theres team bonding and there's an obsession to just get on it..he's meant to be a modern day professional.. Those days should be gone really as it effects elite performances. It really showed during the cup final. Physically, mentally and inspired the opposition, it was almost like an insult to the oppo really, we can still beat you half p*ssed. I was gutting with that arrogance, it's not a usual city thing but a bad trait in a side. Left a bitter taste truth be told but others feel different, that's fair enough

The manager owns a nice restaurant. Why couldn’t they have just gone there - some good food, nice wine and celebrate like a bunch of adults not like a load of students on New Year’s Eve.
