Come on stevie. Don't be naive. You really think someone would complain loudly when surrounded by tens of angry football fans? IF someone complained, then you would not know about it.
Seriously doubt anyone complained.
I'm not questioning anyone complained about him at all.

But I hear that City still receive 10's of complaints every game from people within 109.

My girl friends old man is one of the fire stewards there and he said it was a disgusting. However, he did say that the control room were insisting stewards removed anyone who insisted on standing. But the fact they targeted a vulnerable old man is bollocks.

I wonder which member of City staff was in the control room.

Once again.

Since when have security guards been allowed to man handle and assault people who are doing nothing wrong? He was standing like most of the other fans in block 109.

The guy refused to sit. X that by 500. Let me repeat that again. X that by 500.

So Showsec surround 'him', and 'only him', and push him, pull him, trying to force him out of his seat and out of the isle, so they can escort him, and 'only him' out. While Showsec are targeting this 'one fan', 500 other fans are still standing up.

F***ing great stewarding and crowd control City!

Who's going to be singled out on Tuesday? The seat draw is taking place tomorrow afternon in the security room at City. Good luck to those in 109.

My dad was singled out a couple of games back, the Birmingham cup game I think. He sits in 109, about 15 rows in front of me. Well, I say sits, he obviously stands, but his standing is as a result of others not a desire to do so. He doesn't have any real feelings one way or the other on the standing, he'll stand if others do, he'd happily sit if those around him did too, in fact on occasion he'd rather like a sit down as he's 59 and got an iffy knee.

Anyway, at the Birmingham game they were out in force trying to get people sat down. My dad's row is about 12 or so from the front, so not too close. The Showsec morons had managed to get about 7 or 8 rows at the front to sit and then decided to target my dad.

Now, he happened to be one of only a few people on his row at that point, it was the Carling Cup and fairly quiet. However, as he's an older man, and clearly was on his own, he was targeted.

He was asked to sit, he politely, but firmly refused and pointed out that "there are 5 rows of people standing in front of me, if I sit down I won't be able to see".

A fair argument you'd think.

The response?

"I don't care if you can see or not, sit down".

At this point he was obviously far from impressed with the attitude he was getting and slightly more firmly stated he wasn't sitting down, and then ignored the Showsec bloke, refusing to even acknowledge he was there, let alone answer him.

He was threatened with being removed, and with future bans. None of these happened. They clearly tried to pick on him as he was old and on his own, and were surprised with his reaction.

Seems intimidation is the Showsec buzz word.

As someone who sits at the very back of 109 I can confirm that, on occasion, I have heard people (usually women it has to be said) complaining to the steward at the entrance about the standing. I didn't notice this on Saturday however.

1 woman? not exactly the overwhelming majority when there are hundreds of passionate supporters standing is it? Even kids manage it. I coped when I was a wee lad in the kippax at maine road. Any excuse for some action I suppose. The club should make it clear to day trippers that 109 has a lot of standers and if you got there you will need to stand to see the game. People say it isn't sold as a standing but it was before the season started and still is now!

TBH I'm saddened by the fact that there is more support for a Blue on those sites than some on here.

Glad ive got my padded seat on level 2 when I read this! My feet were killing after standing at Blackburn all game :)

Club needs to sort it at the end of the season.

I sit on the second row next to this poor chap and the argument here has been lost somewhere in this thread.

He very politely refused to be seated, citing that thousands of others were standing, (in our section) and he felt he was being singled out, (as he was). No fewer than 4 stewards approached ONLY this gentleman. He never uttered a single profanity, being shoulder to shoulder with him, I should know.

For this, and only this he is then manhandled and assaulted by the stewards, one of which jumped over the first row and got into a tangle with myself and others.

The police I don´t believe were at fault, the officers appeared to be not looking at the man but at the crowd as they appeared worried about some from of mob rule, which given the stewards heavy-handedness was a great concern.

This isn´t about sitting or standing, it is about a man being victimised by thugs in yellow jackets.

Stop arguing and see the black and white in the argument, anyone who was within 5 rows of this knows what happened and anyone with anything negative to say regarding this man´s behaviour is just looking to make trouble.

I have emailed both Peter Fletcher and Vicky Kloss my version of events and await there response...if any.

Proof if needed that Showsec target individual fans, regardless of where they're stood. Cough! Sit.

The photograph on the wall and the dart isn't working before the match is it Showsec. If that's the way they target fans, they best get Eric Bristow to throw the darts. :-?

Or sort it now, make 109 all standing?

THIS!!

Even rags have given support on the youtube vid and I spoke to a lot of people today including rags and they all support the old mans case in this without me even telling them the full story(visible in the 1st 15 pages); which makes it even more convincing and supports the old man.
