Wouldn't think it would be as bad assuming they actually did manage to shut it down, Chernobyl overheated because of a power spike while it was still operational if memory serves.

I'm not 100% on nuclear science, but that seemed like one of the cube-shaped reactors, and when it blows to pieces, I know that's not good.

If its 150miles from Tokyo how does this affect them? anyone know for how far the Chernobyl one reached?

Japanese government also telling people to move to higher ground from fear of other Tsunami's. These must have been another quake for them to issue such a bold statement like this.

But with Chernobyl, the authorities covered it up. The only way the West knew something happened was when gigacounters all over Western Europe, including the UK, went nuts.

The worrying thing is that this power plant is on the coast. If it is a radioactive explosion, then radioactive debris has gone into the ocean...the PACIFIC Ocean.

Japanese authorities have just confirmed of.a nuclear leak from the plant
