Turkey

I saw on CNN a large group of people trying to get to the airport and there was definitely gunshots, likely in the crowds direction.

Watching CNN. People are being shot outside the airport. You can see them going down.

Can't see either side managing to contain this. Curious as to how you restore control over a country that has a population of around 75 million people. And the EU making backdoor deals with Turkey signals to me that they had no idea this was going to occur.

Looks like someone got shot on the bridge. Was shots then about 4 people who looked like they were carrying an injured person.

The silence from the US and other western powers shows that Erdogan has little to no support outside Turkey. Putin is probably laughing right now.

Hopefully the military uses overwhelming force to end this quickly

Fucking typical. The minute things get a bit faith deranged, all hell breaks loose.

Good to see the military acting against the despot. I am convinced Erdogan and his people have been behind the 'terrorist' acts to further strengthen his grip on power. A vile man.

No more profiting from buying cheap oil from ISIS.

Hopefully he will end up in court in The Hague at some point.

If all this is true, the military need to succeed. One good thing is that out of a population of 75 million, there seem to be only a few thousand on the streets, and that is in spite of all the reckless rallying calls by Erdogan and others. They look peaceful, the crowds, anyway.

If it really was just a small group of the military this would have been over already. The only way he could speak was via face time and they control the airport so he won't be getting back in Turkey. Hard to see how he wins this and him trying to get people to throw themselves at the army is a right cunts trick.

Yep, absolutely desperate. The bloke they interviewed on the BBC earlier reminded me of this bloke:
