Turnstiles Broke! Massives Queues Outside The Ground

When I met my youngest daughter at the game yesterday she asked me who Tim of the oak was?
She's on here but rarely posts. I asked why and she said I've noticed him following you all over the forum making a stupid comment after nearly every post I make, except in off topic.
She asked if that was not what we call a troll and I replied 'no he's just a sad bastard who thinks following and abusing an old timer died in the wool blue fun'.

We can all take some stick Squirty but please don't hide behind the members of your family said this or that. It's below you.

Btw I was going to Maine Road as a 5 year old. My family are all Blues too. I now live across the Pennines and compare to yesterday's game on 50 sweater with loads more exiled Mancs. Family members have played for our great Club too.

I love going to the matches and if you don't it's your problem

It's a shame that the leaders of this great Forum give you a free hand but lay into Worsleyweb for being too positive.

Not sure anyone is "laying in" to anyone Tim. My own comments to WW - which he acknowledged in typical good grace - were simply about empathising with the plight of others regardless of how well you see things going personally.

A number of people are getting emotionally entrenched and personal which is in danger detracting from the debate about a genuine set of issues.

what? I'm telling you what happened.
I don't need to suggest anything I'm simply telling you that opening a gate at kick off next to hundreds of fans who are already pissed off was a terrible idea and inevitably resulted in those fans rushing towards that Gate.
Don't see how you can take exception to what I posted.

I'm saying are the fans that stupid that they would charge an open gate in light of everything they know about Hillsborough but you seem to rather think that this is somehow the clubs fault in opening a gate to let people in, people chose to rush at it, they did not have to do so.

Absolutely agree.
Impossible to get a pint at half time in the new south stand unless you miss some of first half or miss some of second. They dont even relay the match so you can at least watch the action whilst in the queue.......so i dont bother - there loss!!
The queues would decrease a lot faster if some of the staff knew what buttons to press on the till, instead of gawping at the thing as though they're trying crack the enigma code!

Clearly it was an issue yesterday, took me about 45 mins to get into P,but rather than slag the club off as seems to be in vogue, perhaps we should wait and see how they react to the queues and see what plans are in place for the next home game? Glasgow was a shambles but it's caused a reaction so let's see

Very good post 1961 Vintage.

The queues at P especially 15-30 mins before kick off have been getting longer every home game this season, more than likely due to the new security measures, so the club should have already realised that closing off another access point in Y was gonna increase this, so yes they are at fault, bad planning all round.

Thought we were a bit unlucky today but not quite at our best and missing two penalties. I have season tickets in level 2 but frequently sit in other parts of the stadium for different games I.e cup games and when my dad comes I take him in the lower tier as he struggles walking up. I have no issue whatsoever with the ground. There are clearly issues with the glass wall but as I explained in the other thread my understanding is that the club are converting office space within the west stand by next season to improve facilities. They are also launching a new end at the south stand which will be much less corporate and cheaper tickets. The seats in the centre of the lower tier behind the dugouts are as good as you can get and the club are improving the offering there as part of the longer term development plan for the stadium. They are not looking to just turn it into a corporate bowl. 90 percent of the lower tier is non corporate and 60 percent of the middle tier. Up until today I had never had any issues with turnstile queuing. I actually went in today at about 3 minutes past 3 and literally took 2 minutes. Unfortunately in the world today there are security issues and I felt today that there must have been something going on as the checks seemed more keen. Genuinely I have never had an issue getting food or having a piss on any level of the stadium. Perhaps on the lower tier in certain areas it has got temporarily worse but I certainly would not let it spoil my day. As for the club and tickets I phone up regularly or use the website to buy tickets and am always treated well and find the service first class. I can only voice my true opinion. I love going, find the service and views excellent. The team very good and I genuinely don't get this nonsense about fan disconnnection and the ultra negativity. I just don't get it - sorry if that makes you think I am an arrogant dickhead!!

Have say my experience on a match day is largely unaffected too. I come, I generally get in on time. I also know when the best times are to get a drink or food. I sit down in my seat and I generally enjoy the game. The stadium is excellent.

How does the glass tunnel justify a business case for an additional what....? 1500 seats? I doubt that many would be displaced, if that's the logic.

If we have this calibre of people making such decisions I worry.

I can assure you the gentlemen who worked (and struggled) with the business case for 6000 seats at the north stand is of a very impressive calibre. I have clearly explained the reasoning on other posts so wont go over it again. As a starter multiply 5000 by say 400 quid a season. And then factor in a contractor asking you for 60 million to build these extra 5000 seas and the need to move a souveniour shop. Glad it is not you future proofing our stadium if you can't see some logic.

As I said if I was sat in those seats in 127 I probably would be pissed off if I had to move. But we have about 500 corporate seats in the whole of the lower tier so I can certainly see why the club think that they need to do this as they are seeking to maximise revenues to aid the business case for the north stand. Despite the criticism from some joes bar and 93.20 made the business case for the south stand 3rd tier stack up. Clearly it is causing some distress but this is the real world and our owners won't just stump up 60 million pounds for a new stand that will take about 40 years to pay for itself.

It's also the only way in the short to medium term that the club can legitimately continue to offer cheaper seats elsewhere in the ground..

The queues at Y were ridiculous as well.

You said "Genuinely what do you think the club are doing so wrong?"
And then said " I probably would be pissed off if I had to move."

The club are making people move which is pissing people off.

I'm in on this discussion because I'm in 105 and sooner rather than later, I'll be shunted out for corporates, and when that happens I'll fuck it off altogether. Google Martin Niemoller.

(Sorry to be dramatic but there are many things not right and it's all coming to a head)

Why would you quit altogether over where you're sat? Sure I get moving is a ball ache, but overall you're there to watch the game right? I've sat all over the ground and it makes no difference to me where I am. Years ago we were moved out of the S block of the North Stand at Maine Road to accommodate away fans due to the fantastically shite Umbro Stand! We'd all sat there for more than a decade and knew everyone around us like a family. It happens for all sorts of reasons.

The views are excellent from all over the stadium. People are making examples of less toilets - maybe temporarily for half a season in one block. The ratio of toilets to people is higher than it has ever been at the stadium.

Yeah I sometime get the tram in and never had a problem in getting in Y except this year the one time I have trammed it in where there was a que of about 20 on each turnstile.

On another note

The arguement for the corporate need to pay for the north stand extention and this atrium of sorts being built for that end I understand, but then do it with a palm that won't piss off a large majority of level one fans.

P for example has four large fire exit doors and 2 vented exit doors and exiting is always smoothe and easy, shirley one of the vented doors could have turnstiles fitted ( temp or permamently) to help reduce the ques.

Also I would rather the club were lobbying for safe standing, that is the kind of thing that intrests most normal fans not a glass tunnel, yes build the corporate, but show a bit of understanding of the fanbase on the whole.

As always though once in the ground I have no complaints, and City on the whole are excellent.

Ha ha - I predicted such problems and was mocked.

I turned up an hour early for the first time ever, and the bar was 10 deep come 2.15pm. At least the football is improving eh?

Mr Soriano - tear down the wall! It is okay having your local global paradox, which meant shit on the locals for the benefit of the global plastics it seems now...

And on that note - I give up!

What's this glass tunnel all about? Is it like Blue Planet Aquarium where you walk through the shark tank except it's players walking through the corporate lounge?
