I always preferred Barry Davies rather than Motty, even the “just look at his face” bit. Of today’s commentators I like Seb Hutchinson, he seems to be neutral, concentrates on the football and so far, I haven’t heard him say anything negative about City, so he’ll do for me.

Davies never felt the need to talk when it wasn't needed. There's was numerous pauses in his commentary style and it just worked.
Drury used to be the same but he must be paid by the word now he's joined sky.

I still think any commentator from back then would be as irritating as the ones we have today.

We only heard Barry Davis for about 15 mins a week outside of international tournaments.

I could listen to him commentating on every match The point is he did his job I mean “just look at his face, just look at his face”
Like others have said he knew when to pause not like these current ones

To be fair to Tyler, he did give the Aguero moment some silence.

For me Davies’ line that sticks in my head is “You have to say that is magnificent” when Maradona scored his second goal.

I wasn’t around for the Lee moment, but obviously have heard it since!

Drury. Is he the one who now does the main Sky matches? His shouting, almost screaming players names, irritates me somewhat. He does it much more than he ever did at the beeb.
