From tv licensing site,
Live TV means any programme you watch or record as it’s being shown on TV or live on an online TV service. It’s not just live events like sport, news and music. It also covers soaps, series, documentaries and even movies.”

all on line tv services require a tv licence to watch.
That includes Amazon, Sky, Netflix, NowTV, etc..

Netflix doesn't require a licence. It's not live tv.

You don’t need a TV Licence if you only ever use these services to watch on demand or catch up programmes except if you’re watching BBC programmes on iPlayer.

(that’s what Netflix comes under)

Remember, if you watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV, on any channel or TV service, or download or watch any BBC programmes on iPlayer, you need to be covered by a TV Licence.

(If you watch a movie through a live stream on an online service like Sky movies through NOW TV then you would need a license)

That’s how I interpret what it says.

Amazon has only just dropped into that with showing sports as part of the base package. before you had to pay extra for the live TV channels on Amazon so you could prove you had never done it.

but as someone pointed out, Netflix/Apple etc dont count as they dont broadcast live TV

Also just having access to Amazon Prime doesn't mean you need a TV licence, only if you watched the live footy on there.

The offence is actually owning a TV, even if you don't have an aerial, when I bought a cheap TV from argos they asked for my name and address for the guarantee, when I didn't give it they admitted they are required by law to inform the licensing authority. They have no right to enter your house though, that's why for years my mother only bought a monochrome license despite having two colour tvs.
We used to call em black n white telly's when I was a lad...! Too many uninformative big words about these days ...

Those YT vids are very amusing to watch - so are some of the bailiff's ones where they turn up with photocopied unsigned court documents and are sent packing by the Police - idiots who think they ARE the law not that they know it!

Simplest way to deal with them is not to speak to them. Do not answer questions then they have no info to work with - you are under no obligation to answer questions from anyone except a Police Officer and even then only in relation to a specific offence.
Actually, you don't have to answer any police officers questions about any offence either....

I just had another letter asking me if I will be in on the 9th of January and quite frankly me and my good lady wife can't sleep with the worry. They even wrote this on the outside of the envelope in order to make us feel inadequate in front of the postman but we don't because he told us he is expecting his visit on the 14th : /

None shall pass !

All bull to be honest, a tv is only a receiver via a connected ariel or Wi-fi nowadays, they will emit electro magnetic fields but then so does virtually every electrical appliance.

You can send a letter to them removing any implied right of access as you don’t watch live broadcasts and will notify them if circumstances change. They should reply back to acknowledge receipt of your letter and leave you alone

I love those letters.
You don’t even need to open them up as on the outside it shows a mini calendar with the date already marked in for you with a big red X. Very thoughtful I thought, telling me what day not to answer the door.

I cannot begin to imagine how many acres of virgin forest are being lost due to the comical antics of these neaderlithic oddities.
