tv licence

If it wasn't for the BBC,the ABC in Australia would have no programmes to show.
They even show Mock the Week at some ungodly hour of night, the show has no relevance to an Australian audience but they still show it.
QI is on twice a week, the shows are eight or nine years old,so the BBC must be raking in some aussie dollars and I'm sure the kiwi national broadcaster would be the same.
The licence fee would only go so far and deals to supply content to overseas networks would supplement their income.

My mate hasn't paid TV license in about 10 years. Never had any bother, just chucks the letters away.
My sister didn't own a TV for a few years working away, but got threatening letters saying she'll be fined if she don't cough up. It's a load of automated threats.

EXACTLY! You don't have to pay the licence. It's your choice people! So cancel or stop moaning. No excuses anymore.
No it's not a choice at all. Not legally at any rate.
yes it is

I pay. Its a tenner a month. I spunk a tenner in the bookies on some shit horse without thinking twice.
Just pay up you tight bastards. Id pay a tenner amonth just so i dont have to answer the door to some guy wanting to know why im too tight to pay my tenner.

**To be fair, if everybody paid their tv license, they migt be able to afford the footie for 2 billion, and still pay johnathan ross his wages.

A TV Licence is not just for TV sets

Watching TV on the internet

You need to be covered by a licence if you watch TV online at the same time as it's being broadcast on conventional TV in the UK or the Channel Islands.
Video recorders and digital recorders like Sky+
You need a licence if you record TV as it's broadcast, whether that's on a conventional video recorder or digital box.
Mobile phones
A licence covers you to watch TV as it's broadcast on a mobile phone, whether you're at home or out and about.

Unless you're Amish you'll definitely need one.

They've got all the angles covered i'm afraid.

No it isn't. If you watch live BBC then you are breaking the law. That is a choice in itself like any decision to break the law, but it is not a legal one.

Still, if your £120 is that important to you and you wish to leave others to pay their share whilst you don't bother then fair do's. I'll just wipe a few grand off my tax bill to make up for it. Now that's something I guess you don't agree with.
