Ah fuck it. Not often my views are even slightly changed by reading a football forum but I going to stop paying from now on. I don't like the Beeb and I totally disagree to being forced to pay something I very rarely use.

Awaits the condescending poster to tell me that he spends a ton fifty a year on people to peel grapes for him. Yet will probably scour the earth to save that on car insurance.
Hope you get nicked.

Highly unlikely he will pal.

They only have themselves to blame then. If you know how the law works you will not be charged with anything. You may receive letters through the post but they mean nothing.

1 in 10 magistrates court cases are for TV license evasion.

not only do you get a fine but a criminal record.

3000 per week prosecuted in 2011.

Or if you have a TV in your front room that can be seen from the front of your house you are fucked as they just get a warrant as they have evidence (ie the being on show). You are simply repeating uban myths from those that have got away with it.

Yes, looking through the front window and using Sky's subscriber list.

Is that not data protected ? You have to give your name and address when purchasing a tv too, I presume that's for the licencing people and again I would have thought it should have been data protected.

Sky subscribers list is not enough for them to get a warrant that allows them into your house, you do not have to let them in. Looking through the window is illegal and an act against your privacy. You do not have to let them in your house by law.

In the same way that your car insurance details and MOT and mobile phone etc isn't data protected. You are never data protected from the authorities. And SKY systems broadcast BBC and as such they will have a right to see who receives their service (and rightly so).

-- Mon Oct 15, 2012 8:51 pm --

Neither of those points are true.

They have to be in your house to check but you do not have to let them in your house by law. I have seen this happen in real life. Just passing on what I have seen.
