Watched episode #1 about a week ago and thought it was solid without being spectacular.Lots of things were unanswered in that brilliant show, but I reckon it's being told in the second series, in line with how the first one went.
Gladly, we're back to the actual storytelling mode of TV entertainment of the 80s and 90s in recent times.
Watched episode #2 last night and it was excellent. It doesn't feel rushed, and if you'd have explained the scenes between Jeff Bridge and his lady friend to somebody who hadn't seen it, it might have sounded boring, but it was somehow riveting.
Then there's the Afghanistan story building up. Really excited to see how the next five episodes unfold now.
Like you said, the storytelling feels like it might be really good in this.
