Because I am incredibly lazy and can't be bothered to read the thread, can you recommend a series for me to get into? I loved West Wing and more recently Good Wife, Scandal and Suits. I don't want anything that will require me to think too deeply or be horrified.
Thanks :-)

I havent watched Scandal, might give it a go, but the other 3 you mention i like. The one that surprised me was the good wife, started watching with little expectation and didnt expect it to be so well written and acted.

House of Cards might suit you as you seem to like political intrigue type shows, its a remake of the British series of the 80s, Kevin Spacey plays Frank Underwood who is snubbed for the role of vice president so goes about plotting and scheming to get what he wants, first 2 series have been very good, third series starts in Feb.

There are others such as Breaking Bad and The wire which are 2 of the best shows ever IMO. Breaking Bad won all sorts of awards, brilliantly written and acted, about a chemistry teacher who gets cancer and decides to provide for his family when he's dead by cooking meth. The Wire is about Baltimore and how drugs effects all walks of life, expertly written, well acted (didnt win awards which was a crime) by a largely unknown cast, but its a show that had so many really good characters, its actually daft how many there are.

Thanks :-)
I'll give House of Cards a try first I think. I may have watched one of the first few shows, quite a lot of talking to camera fron Kevin Spacey? I remember the original 80's show but seem to recall it going a bit too surreal in later series.

Spacey does talk to the camera, like the original, but its well done and he carries it quite well. I really liked the original, did go a bit silly in the 3rd part but thought Ian Richardson was excellent in it. I rewatched it on Netflix recently (from your username i think we might the same age) as i was a little young for it first time around and i just remember my parents really liking it, i enjoyed it and it hasnt dated that badly.

Mid season break ? Very crafty

Yep it's an American thing ;)

All my best shows are currently on one and it's driving me mental

Agreed Bob, a lot of the ones i watch are as well (not sure we have much cross over as i dont do vampires). The future is all in one go like Netflix do, watch when you want and not when some tv exec wants you to. House of Cards and Orange is the new black i enjoyed all the more as i watched in bunches as my convenience, not getting pissed off wanting to know what was next and having to wait a week (or even longer with the mid season bollocks)
