Was about to drop off to sleep at about 1 am last night when I noticed that I Claudius was being shown on BBC4.
Watched about 10 minutes of it and was hooked all over again.
Have already seen it twice and am now going to watch it for a third time on the iPlayer (where you can also see a new interview with Derek Jacobi).
For anyone who has not seen it, yes it is dated and the sets are creaky, and it doesn’t really get into its stride until episode three, but after that it is utterly scintillating.
In particular, the quality of the writing is exceptional, some of the finest dialogue ever written for the screen.
