Trial by Media

The Amadou Diallo case was a fuckin disgrace. Springsteen wrote a song called 41 shots, he sang it at a concert at Madisison Square. Some in the crowd booed him and walked out. No doubt NYPD officers..

The Diallo shooting incident is used as a centre-piece in Blink! by Malcolm Gladwell. Really interesting stuff about biases, split-second thinking (or lack of it) and the impact of extreme stress on the cognitive abilities.

Loving the Celeb SAS. One of my fav things on TV at the moment. Hard to appreciate how hard it is what they are doing, but love watching how they break them down and how they react.

Ok, I have previously mentioned a Norwegian series on BBC4 called 'state of happiness' about the oil industry in Stavanger and very good it is too.
Watching episode 6 last night I discovered another reason to watch it for chuckles and schoolboy guffaws. One of the male main characters first name is Hardon and a lady character is called Randi. Both characters are some years past their best btw.

It would have gained a much greater audience if it had been called 'When Hardon met Randi'.
Well I thought is was funny, or maybe it was the wine.

So, I'm watching 'Bosch' as I'm bored. I hate the story lines; they're inconsistent.

I hate the so-called relationship between 'Harry Bosch' and his daughter 'Maddie'. It's off and on weird shit.

However, I keep watching it cos I love the apartment 'Harry Bosch' owns. It's probably the greatest fictional setting I've ever seen! It's dreamy and it makes me jealous!!

It's the best thing about the show!
Id never live in a house on stilts. Sod that.

Finished binge watching white lines. Started off good then turned to shit. It would have made a decent 2 hour film.
Tbf, I found the same thing with money heist, so anyone that liked that will probably disagree and like this.
Thought Money Heist was great until part 3.Just got silly from there.

Can I ask a question about this programme? Is it going anywhere because it's really boring. Well made but dull. Not so much Nordic Noir as Nordic Blah.

I sometimes close my eyes when watching TV and just listen to the sound and I find I'm doing this with this programme. Then I realize I don't know Norwegian so perhaps have missed something important.

I’m watching State of Happiness and think it’s really good. Watched four episodes and hadn’t noticed that it’s slow.

After watching my favourite, Better Call Saul, and seeing some on here think that’s slow as well, I’ve come to the conclusion I like slow tv.

Slow, intelligent, not obvious and annoying tv.

Don't mind slow, but essentially this is a story about a secretary who hears some things, and is trying to cajole family to make decisions based on those things. And that's it.

And why is that religious girl continually leaving her baby unattended to go off to work.

It's a soap storyline so far.

I think we have finished 6 so i'm not really much further ahead. Might just not be for you. In my view its a well written and acted soap opera with a unusual setting and subject and a nice historical perspective. Like most soaps the female characters are written a lot stronger than the male. The young un is a whiney child who just needs a good slap.

PS. It would be a riveting watch for anyone that wants to make their own diving bell.

Need some inspiration from you guys for a series to watch with the missus. I’ve got loads to watch for me on my own but require something to fill an hour a night to watch with her. Generally speaking, we seem to enjoy most the crime drama style and feel like exhausted everything that’s been on recently. Went for a watch of The Wire last week but she couldn’t deal with it being so old so I guess it needs to be relatively recent.

Any ideas?

Have you tried 'The Shield', 'Southland', 'Bosch'(not into that, personally)?

'Snowfall' is decent.
