TV Series

That cinematography in Ozark is superb, as is pretty much everything about it.

Must admit, 3 episodes into BB and I'm struggling to see why it's so highly rated. I'll persevere for a little longer.
BB is the most overhyped series ever,i think people just went along with the praise so as to be seen as cool and relevant.

Ozark knocks spots off it for watchability and involvement.

Finished S3 of Ozark last night. I thought this season was superb throughout - a real ratcheting up of tension and can't wait to see where they take it for the 4th and final season. Onto Breaking Bad tonight to see what all the fuss is about.
Took me a while to get into it Ozark, probably about 5-6 episodes even, wouldn't have looked out of place in the top 10 on BH's thread imo, great show.

I think if maybe you did it in a couple of years Ozark would be a top 10 maybe 5 show. The fact a lot of people haven't heard of it yet and its still a fair way to go i imagine in its story concolusion, people overlooked it.

Ozark is very high on my list of favourites. I've been a big fan of Jason Bateman since Arrested Development.

The storyline, the fact that you can't really predict where it's going, the character development and the cinematography are all absolutely top notch.

As for breaking bad comparisons - I never really got BB. Watched about 3 series and never really got the hype
For me it is very similar to Breaking Bad. Really liked the 1st series of Ozark but after that lost interest. Don't understand the hype

For me, I think people see in 'Ozark' the 'potential' of what might come to pass. So, on that front I absolutely agree with you.

But, that also led to the downfall of 'BB', when it didn't live up to that potential. I find these kind of shows annoying because it leads nowhere, ultimately.

Bit of a generalisation.

I watched it well after it was relevant. The whole lot was out already, and the hype had died down. I also went into it with a mindset that it was probably going to be overrated.

And I thought it was great. I don't consider it the best or my favourite, and I have oftennsaid the groundbreaking claims, that ground had been broken before. But it is still great tv, and while there may be more hype than it deserves, 'the most overrated' is probably a bit of a stretch.

Rob, you won't know 3 episodes in. It is like judging a book 30 pages in. You may still geel that way half way in, fair enough, won't be alone. But if you end up enjoying it as it starts to click, then enjoy it and go with it.

Of course. I've committed myself to watching 2 series whatever I think because I know some people have said that S1 didn't really go anywhere and it only clicked in S2. I don't dislike what I've seen (a couple of bits were pointlessly gory IMO) but I realise it's early days yet.

Queuing up the final season from More4 HD.

D-83 (1st) season was fantastic, D-86 (2nd) season couldn't live up to the East vs West German tension of the premiere season. I'm hoping that D-89 (3rd) season goes out with a bang.
I loved season 1 but yeah season 2 wasn't quite as good, although I enjoyed it more second time round. I've got one episode left of 89 and to be honest I don't have a proper clue what's going on.

I literally thought the same. That pointless gore disappears from it. I think the gain the confidence that they don't need it to be edgy.

I loved breaking bad. Like you i watched it all a couple of years after it had finished. Yes, it had lulls and some episodes were crap. But some episodes were genuine draw dropping moments and, in my opinion, there hasnt been a finer finale to a long running series.

to the guy watching it, give it time.

Don't agree. I binged on BB a few years after it had finished and can honestly say I have never enjoyed anything on the TV more than that in my 59 years. Absolutely gripping, enthralling, marvellous in every way. The characters, the plot, the acting, tension, humour, drama, creativity. Simply brilliant.

Only Better Call Saul comes close IMO.

Oh, and Chernobyl as well.
