TV Series

Wheel of Time isn't on the same level as Game of Thrones. The background scenery for example is a bit off - villages don't look quite right for some reason - the abandoned city looks more like a Hollywood set than an abandoned city and so on. And the special effects are poor - the magic scenes in particular.

That said, I like the series and will definitely continue watching.

Well they ain’t got there money worth then! I one game of thrones was few years back but every episode cost $6m Wheel of time each episode cost $10m

The new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm has been disappointing upto now. The same for Stath Let's Flats aswel, although The Cockfields second series was good.

Foundation not sure about this!? It’s ok but seems a lot going on not much of a direction! I usually love these sort of tv series! Am on the fourth episode and still not hooked…

Between bebop wheel of them and hellbound I have the feeling after I’ve watched a couple of each episodes that I’ll bin of bebop wheel of time will be yeah ok got promise and hellbound yeah this is fcuking mint!

Finished both hellbound and bebop.

Bebop though plays homage to the anime, missies the style of it that made it so good and tries too hard to flesh out charactors, losing its noir style and succesful use of genre tropes.

A worth a watch once and forget series for me, where I have indulged in rewatching the anime several times I won't with this. 5/10

Hellbound, I liked the story and though some have criticised the pacing I found it right for the shows tone, was more like 2 seperate 3 part stories with a linking arc more and the end set up nicely for a second season

Not the best Kdrama I have seen but I would recomend it. 7.5/10

Thanks for the updates. Still haven't had time to start on either yet.

Agreed. Inflation notwithstanding - I've failed to mention the weakest part of Wheel of Time... it's the dialog.

Remember these quotations of Littlefinger's?

Ah the Starks...

Sublime. And this just from Petyr Baelish... numerous other characters have fantastic, memorable lines.

Wheel of Time has nothing at all to rival this.

Tonight's top gear was brilliant telly. These boys are smashing it at the moment.
That chilli thing was hilarious, we've all done it, and it's not pleasant. Funny as fuck.
Harris driving that lambo was just superb, a top review.
Nicely mixing evs into the show, good stuff.

Watched the first episode of wheel of time. Like the books and read Robert Jordan's stuff since the early 90s, but from the dodgy looking trailer was already expecting a budget lord of the rings.

Unfortunately seems I was correct. Wooden characters, brand spanking new clothes on everyone in the village, no immersion, no tension, poor cgi. Disappointed. It got 42 minutes of my time and I think I was generous.

Preferred the shannara chronicles series that came out a few years back and that ended up cancelled by anyway. No way Amazon let this have a second series, so another story unfinished.

What did they spend the 10m per episode on ? The actors or has someone done a runner with it.

What they’ve done to Wheel of Time is scandalous. What fucks me off the most is when they call something x but butcher the story and core narratives. Imagine a remake of little women but they weren’t women they were men. Utter shite.

I tried The Wheel of Time, but after about 30mins I already had the feeling its not for me. I can't help but compare these types of shows to GOT. They are incomparable. The acting, the settings, dialogue, even casting. The characters in GOT looked like real people. In The Wheel of Time everyone looks like they've been plucked from an Abercrombie and Fitch advert.

That last scene is stunning. So atmospheric, arya just walks up, slits his throat and goes back to her position like nothings happened.
Got had some great moments.
