TV Series

Watching the latest series of Baptiste and not really getting into it like previous series. All very bleak and on e4 and a bit of a slog. Enjoyed previous ones.

I'm now watching "Ted Lasso" on Apple TV+. I thought that the NBC "Ted Lasso" shorts from 2 or 3 years ago were cute and amusing - but would in no way whatsoever form the basis for an engaging series.

How wrong I was!

The series Lasso is engaging - not because it's funny - but because it's the story of an extraordinarily nice guy - Lasso - whom I'm compelled to root for.

Lasso is a fun - makes-you-feel-good - watch. Highly recommended.

Its a brilliant breath of fresh air, ticks many boxes.Loved the recent Christmas episode, just a shame it was shown in August!

Just finished The Silence.
UK drama, 4 episodes about a deaf girl who witnesses a murder.
It's good but there is no ending, very weird.

The Outer Banks is well worth a watch. It’s about a group of kids that go searching for a lost treasure.

Britannia series 3 lives up to the Radio Times description as Game of Thrones meets Glastonbury. Great music, Zombies, T Rex, Donovan and Blind Faith.
You know something is mad/brilliant when they throw in eating a human at an orgy as light relief...
Zoe Wannermaker (?) Is mad as a box of frogs...

As a stick on in the background whilst you are occupied on your phone series "white gold" isn't as terrible as I thought it might be. It's got Jay and Simon from the inbetweeners basically playing an 80's 10 years older version of the same characters.

we've watched season 1, was enjoyable. need to watch season 2 now as thats on netflix now.

im not sure why they decided to do the 25/30 year old actors playing 16 years olds tho.

Just been reading up on the new series Foundation due 24 sept from Apple TV +
Is anyone on here a subscriber to the service already, and if so can you recommend it?
It looks like they a planning many series of it takes off, but they are at least showing 10 episodes as Series 1 to begin with, but I think it’s broadcast / showing weekly - or will all 10 episodes be available at once?
If not, I’m guessing they’ll all be available to play back afterwards at once, like Amazon Prime etc?
I see it’s £4.99 pcm, so I have considered waiting till November and just subscribing for 1 month to watch all 10 episodes at once - or even doing the 7 day free trial for the same reason.
Anyway, if anyone has any feedback from using it, I’d be glad to hear of it, ta.

‘Manifest’ takes flight: Netflix announces plans for jumbo fourth (and final) season

Benjamin Bullard
Buckle up, Manifest fans. Netflix announced Saturday that it will run a new season of the sci-fi series, picking up where the mystery-rich show left off for its third season, which aired on NBC.

In a release, Netflix said it reached a deal with Warner Bros. TV to bring a “super-sized” fourth and final season of Manifest to the screen. There’s a little bit of fan-friendly timing in the announcement, too: Netflix revealed the news on Aug. 28, an homage to the enigmatic Flight 828 that lies at the center of Manifest’s episodic, reality-bending mystery.

More Manifest

Season 4 of Manifest at Netflix will consist of 20 episodes, "presented in parts to be determined," according to Netflix and featuring the return of series creator and showrunner Jeff Rake.

“What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime,” Rake said via Netflix's statement.

Manifest follows the uncanny aftermath of the landing of Montego Air Flight 828, which leaves its passengers grasping for answers after they discover that the rest of the world — friends, family, and everyone else — has inexplicably aged five years during the plane’s brief time in the air. The happy reunions after the passengers reappear are just the start of deeper mysteries.

Manifest stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Parveen Kaur, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, and Matt Long.

The wife says thanks for that, you've cheered her up. For next year I'm guessing?

Some mad storylines but loved Idris Elba and the lovely Ruth Wilson who is a great actress.
