TV Series

Toast of London has moved to the BBC and the world’s worst actor has moved to Hollywood, Toast of Tinseltown.
For me the best British sitcom of the last 20 years, first episode was last night with cameos from Larry David and Kayvan Novak.
All episodes and all the previous series from C4 are now on the iPlayer.
Watch it from the beginning if you’ve never seen it, absolutely brilliant stuff with an occasionally surreal edge and imo Matt Berry is probably only bettered by his mate Bob Mortimer as the nation’s most naturally funny man

Only found out about this yesterday. Absolutely love Toast of London, he was the best part of IT crowd and he’s great in What we do in the Shadows.

The “fire the nuclear weapons” and him an Ray Purchase dubbing German Porn are some of the funniest bits of tele I have ever watched.

German Porn Voiceover is one of the funniest 5mins of TV ever made

Just binged watched the first series and it’s certainly different, I don’t remember seeing him in anything but the voice was bothering me, I had heard it somewhere. Appears it’s the one he puts on for absolute radio voiceovers haha.
Watch all the previous ones first, there are recurring gags

Anne;
The story of a mum who fought for justice for the 96 who died in the Hilsborough tragedy.
An amazing woman.
Try watching it without blue blinkers on.
Utmost respect for the Hillsborough families and the justice campaign.
Amazing working class people who fought the establishment and won. Love, hugs and respect
However, it it still a fair question to ask would there still be a second prime time TV drama decades later if it happened to Watford, Burnley or Walsall?
Don’t remember ITV investing this much energy inro Bradford?
I suppose they are chasing viewers, clicks and ‘eyes on’ like everybody else in their industry but it is a depressing way to triage the value of human life

Derry Girls.

Can’t believe I left it on my to do list for so long.

It’s brilliant.
Fantastic writing which is my default go-to.
There are shows which are brilliantly written but let down because the cast just doesn’t have the ability or the chops
Derry Girls is ace because the largely untrained main cast are fantastic.
In fact the young girls are more convincing than the pros who have been in the game for decades

Stay Close

Some filmed in Stamford Street Ashton Under Lyne as was a lot of Ridley Road

Only seen two episodes but seems quite engaging
