It's an opinion, but it doesn't offer anything new.

As I said in my review a few weeks back, it's odd seeing Noah Wyle return to the format/ type of show ('ER') that made his name.

Found a series on BBci player called "Strike"

Private Detective murder series Based on JK Rowlings (under the pen name Robert Galbraith) detective novels.

Cormoran Strike is an Ex military police officer who got his leg blown off by an IED who teams up with his secretary to form a detective partnership.

The series stars Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott who portray each character believably. The writing does tend to focus too much on his disability which isn't pivotal to any of the plots so far.

Each book/case is broke down into hour long episodes which is great for the pacing of the series and rope you into a binge watch.

8 out of 10 for me

Good series and Holliday Grainger is very easy on the eye
 
Finally watched the first series of Slow Horses, hooked. Also just watched episode 1 of zero day (netflix), interesting start, I've noticed opinions on here are quite polarised about this one

Superb. I love the series and the books. Re the focus on his disability; that does lessen as the series progress.
 
Anyone else keeping up with S2 of Severance? Only 2 episodes left and a ridiculous number of loose ends. I mean it’s good to leave the audience in limbo a little, but this series is pushing it, just a tad.

I’m minded of the ‘it’s better to travel hopefully than arrive’ phrase, because I’ve a nagging feeling that when all is finally said and done, be it in a fortnight or whenever the last series wraps if there is more to come, I’ll have that ‘meh, is that it?’ feeling.

We've had some hints as to the outcome I think, but nothing has really crystallised yet. My concern with any series like this is that because of its success its drawn out to the stage it meanders about so much it eventually disappears up its own arse. Prime example being Lost.
 
I know it's obvious, but I find this and the film thread really interesting.

I, often, think what drives someone to think something was great, whilst another says it was poor.

Sometimes I want to know what, in particular, made a show good or poor for people and I can come from a perspective that takes that opinion into consideration.

I look for good writing, logic (if it's drama), pacing, consistency and good acting delivery in both TV and film.

100%, couldn’t agree more. That dilution due to success/financial imperative, is the biggest single issue with tv series I think.

Agree with all of that in your last sentence. I suppose if I had to boil it down to one thing, for me it’s if I care enough about the characters enough. If there are none of them I really care about, I struggle. It’s the reason I never got beyond S3 of Breaking Bad for example.

But what makes each viewer care or not, that’s another level of complexity and can be hard to explain, so I can see why you’d find some of the posts frustrating where people say it was great/poor etc.
 
I’ve been watching ‘Fool Me Once’ with the lovely Michelle Keegan.

If you’ve seen any of the previous series that Netflix have adapted from Harlan Coben’s mystery novels, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

Never going to be in anyone’s all time top 10s but harmless enough fun for me.

One thing that just dawned on me after about 50 years though, is how shit an actress Joanna Lumley has always been.
